Job summary

Sofidel America in Shelby, NC is seeking a Maintnance Technician - Electrical to support the maintenance department across the paper facility, performing electrical maintenance on machines and equipment, and handling both preventive and non-preventive tasks while upholding safety standards.

Responsibilities include installing and troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, and control wiring, plus programming in ladder/logical formats and interfacing with DCS/HMI systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years electrical experience or 2 years related education in lieu of experience.
• Demonstrated experience with PLCs, pneumatics, or hydraulics required.
• Experience with packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confined spaces, PPE) preferred.
• PLC programming preferred.
• Welding and machining preferred.
• Ability to work on a variety of machines (Perini & ChinLee rewinders, UNO wrappers, Infinity wrappers, folded machines) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure and troubleshoot photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC I/O modules and all control wiring.
• Configure, troubleshoot and repair motors, motor control centers, VFDs and soft-starts up to 4160 V.
• Maintain and troubleshoot encoders, load cells, hydraulic systems, gas burners and boiler controls.
• Install, calibrate and troubleshoot process transmitters (pressure, level, flow, temp, conductivity, turbidity, pH).
• Tune process control loops and machine control systems.
• Program and troubleshoot DCS, PLC and HMI interfaces.
• Modify DCS/PLC logic with ladder, block, sequential or logic statements.
• Troubleshoot graphic HMI interfaces and communication protocols (Profibus, serial, industrial Ethernet).
• Diagnose and maintain laser-guided vehicles and conveyors.
• Follow lockout/tagout and safety policies; participate in safety incident investigations.

This position isresponsible forall electricalfunctions of machines and equipment across the paper facility includingpreventive and non-preventivemaintenance.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform installation, configuration and troubleshooting of photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC input/outputmodulesand all associated control wiring


• Configure, troubleshoot, and repair motors, motor control centers, variable frequency drives and soft-starts up to 4160 Volt


• Maintain and troubleshoot position feedback devices encoders, load cells, hydraulic systems, natural gasburnersand boiler control systems


• Installation, calibration and troubleshooting of pressure, level, flow, temperature, consistency, conductivity, turbidity, and pH transmitters.


• Tuning of process control loops and machine control systems.


• Programming and troubleshooting of DCS, PLC and HMI interfaces.


• Perform configuration and logic modifications to DCS and PLC control systems. Modifications will include programming in ladder logic, block logic. sequential logic and statement logic.


• Troubleshoot and diagnose configuration and implementation of integrated and stand-alone graphic human machine interfaces.


• Troubleshoot and diagnosespecification of communication protocols, including Profibus, serial and industrial Ethernet.


• Diagnose and perform preventive maintenance on Laser Guided Vehicles and associated conveyors and equipment.


• Hold self and others to high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, appropriate PPE)


• Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate root cause


• Ensure work environment is clean and free from debris

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalentrequired


• Minimum 3 years demonstrated electrical experience or 2 years of related education in lieu of experience required


• Demonstrated experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), pneumatics, or hydraulic systems required


• Experienced in working with computerized maintenance system preferred


• Experience with troubleshooting and performing maintenance on packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred


• Thorough understanding of manufacturing safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confine spaces, personal protective equipment, etc.) preferred


• PLC programming preferred


• Welding and machining preferred


• Ability to work on a variety of machines (Perini & ChinLee rewinders, UNO wrappers, Infinity wrappers, folded machines, etc.) preferred
