Job summary

AD Energy Recruitment partners with an established renewable energy organization to recruit an experienced Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to support operation and maintenance of biogas and gas processing facilities across the USA.

This hands‑on role focuses on electrical/instrumentation work, automation and process controls, troubleshooting and ensuring safe, reliable plant performance while coordinating with operations teams and contractors.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Experience with 4–20mA signals and 12/24V systems.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA and industrial control systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and calibrate electrical instrumentation and control systems across biogas processing facilities.
• Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on gas conditioning, measurement and regulation equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with 12/24V electrical systems and 4–20mA instrumentation.
• Maintain and troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, communication and control systems.
• Inspect, test and calibrate pressure sensors, temperature transmitters, flow meters and level controls.
• Maintain and test emergency shutdown (ESD) systems, safety valves, gas detection and fire safety equipment.
• Support safe and efficient operation of gas compression, filtration, dehydration and measurement systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and electronic equipment.
• Read electrical schematics, P&IDs and control diagrams.

The Opportunity

AD Energy Recruitment is partnering with an established organisation within the renewable energy sector to recruit an experienced Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to support the operation and maintenance of biogas and gas processing facilities across the USA.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on technician with experience in electrical systems, instrumentation, automation and process controls who enjoys troubleshooting, maintaining and improving plant performance.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of gas conditioning and processing equipment, working closely with operations teams to minimise downtime and maintain high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Instrumentation & Electrical Maintenance

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and calibrate electrical instrumentation and control systems across biogas processing facilities.
• Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on gas conditioning, measurement and regulation equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with 12/24V electrical systems and 4–20mA instrumentation.
• Maintain and troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, communication and control systems.
• Inspect, test and calibrate pressure sensors, temperature transmitters, flow meters and liquid level controls.
• Maintain and test emergency shutdown (ESD) systems, safety valves, gas detection and fire safety equipment.

Plant Operations & Technical Support

• Support the safe and efficient operation of gas compression, filtration, dehydration and measurement systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and electronic equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, panel drawings and control diagrams.
• Monitor gas and liquid measurement systems, identifying faults and ensuring accurate readings.
• Support equipment commissioning, repairs, upgrades and installations.
• Coordinate with operations teams and third‑party contractors to ensure maintenance activities are completed effectively.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all activities comply with company safety procedures, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and address potential safety, environmental and operational risks.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports and equipment documentation.
• Participate in safety training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience within gas processing, biogas, oil & gas, industrial maintenance or a related environment.
• Technical qualification in electrical engineering, instrumentation, automation or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands‑on experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA and industrial control systems.
• Experience with 4–20mA signals, 12/24V systems and electrical fault finding.
• Familiarity with pressure regulation, flow measurement and control equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs and technical documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel when required.
