Job summary

Jereh North America Group and Gen-Systems Power Solutions in Houston, TX seek an E-Tech to install, commission, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and control systems in industrial settings. Qualifications

  • Must have hands-on experience with instrumentation commissioning and calibration.
  • Able to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform commissioning, calibration, loop checks, and functional testing of field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level).
  • Conduct I/O testing and signal verification for control systems.
  • Verify instrumentation installation and wiring per P&ID drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues, test and terminate transformers, motors, and inverters using diagnostic tools such as multimeters.
  • Support PLC, VFD, and SCADA systems, including configuration uploads and functional testing.
  • Terminate and test communication networks (Ethernet, RS-485, fiber optics).
  • Commission HVAC and process instrumentation and controls in live production environments.
  • Coordinate with Engineers, Operations, and Manufacturing to minimize system downtime.
  • Interface directly with clients when necessary to align daily objectives, documentation, and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning records, redlines, and documentation.

Position Overview:

The E-Tech (Electrical & Instrumentation Technician) supports the installation, commissioning, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems within industrial and manufacturing environments. This role works closely with engineers, operations, and client teams to ensure systems are installed, tested, and commissioned safely, accurately, and in accordance with drawings, specifications, and client standards. (NEC/IEC standards)

The E-Tech plays a critical role in system startups, facility expansions, and ongoing operational reliability while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform commissioning, calibration, loop checks, and functional testing of field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level)
  • Conduct I/O testing and signal verification for control systems
  • Verify instrumentation installation and wiring per P&ID drawings and electrical schematics
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues, test and terminate transformers, motors, and inverters using diagnostic tools such as multimeters
  • Support PLC, VFD, and SCADA systems, including configuration uploads and functional testing

  • Maintain accurate commissioning records, redlines, and documentation
  • Follow all site safety procedures, Lock Out Tag Out requirements, and client standards
  • Ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift up-to 45 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical, instrumentation, or control systems roles
  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation commissioning and calibration
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control drawings
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and control systems
  • Experience working in industrial or manufacturing environments
  • Proficiency using diagnostic tools (multimeters, calibration equipment)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Must provide own tools and toolbox (sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, hammer, etc)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or technical training in Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, or Controls
  • NCCER Instrument Technician and/or Electrical Technician certification
  • Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley and/or Lenze PLCs and VFDs
  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC systems and protective relay equipment (e.g., SEL, ABB, GE, Siemens).
  • SCADA experience (Ignition preferred)
  • Automation or controls training or certification
