Job summary

Georgia Transmission Corporation seeks a Safety Coordinator to support safety and training programs for field operations, guiding safe work practices on active construction and maintenance projects.

The role oversees safety across substations, transmission facilities, and related sites, ensuring OSHA compliance, audits, and coordination of RESAP/ECSAP programs while fostering strong internal/external safety collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, electrical engineering or related field.
• Five years of field-operations experience with an electric utility in transmission or substation safety.
• Equivalent experience options include an Associate degree with seven years, or a high school diploma with ten years in similar roles.
• Valid driver's license with required insurance qualifications; ITS, OSHA, and safety certifications to obtain within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Participate in pre-construction meetings and daily job briefings, and conduct field safety observations.
• Support safety programs, respond to incidents and near-misses, and assist with accident investigations.
• Oversee OSHA compliance across locations, perform audits, and support RESAP/ECSAP programs.
• Contribute to safety training program development and policy/procedure creation as needed.
• Represent the corporation in external safety initiatives and provide safety guidance to stakeholders.
