Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA, invites applications for a Plasma Science Research Associate to support the Electric Propulsion & Plasma Science section. You will assist scientists with experiments, instrumentation, and data collection, contributing to flight-qualified plasma research and test infrastructure readiness.

Requires a STEM degree with 0–1 year of experience, fabrication skills, and the ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace eng., electrical eng., mechanical eng., physics or related field (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months).
• 0-1 year industry experience.
• Fabrication skills with hand tools and basic machine tools.
• Working knowledge of electronics and basic circuit design.
• Working knowledge of data acquisition systems including measurement hardware, sensors, wiring, and data acquisition software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance (US citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Perform technical assessment, research and development, risk mitigation, and anomaly investigation through laboratory experimentation and analysis.
• Directly support scientists and engineers in this function and interface with internal support organizations as needed.
• Apply hands-on skills to achieve project goals and assist with design, fabrication, instrumentation, and troubleshooting of new and existing experiments.
• Contribute to readiness of electric propulsion and plasma science test infrastructure.
• Duties and activities may change or be reassigned as needed.
