Job summary

M&S Engineering, LLC in The Woodlands, TX seeks a qualified Distribution Designer to design electric distribution facilities, perform staking and project estimation, and prepare construction prints. The role requires independence or teamwork and onsite work at the The Woodlands office, with travel as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma and Texas license eligibility; a preferred associate degree in Electric Power Technology or related experience.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening and possess a current Texas Driver’s License with an insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Represent self with property owners, other engineering firms and construction resources.
• Stay abreast with changing technologies, work planning, and design methodologies for Electric Distribution Design.
• Ensure adherence to client standards to develop detailed scoping and engineering plans for projects.
• Recognize 4kV–35kV distribution framing and components to initiate designs for overhead and underground facilities.
• Perform distribution line design calculations for structure loading, guying, angle calculations, conductor sag, materials, framing design, and safety guidelines.
• Secure easements, right of entry requests, and permitting on an as needed basis.
• Take responsibility for quality, accuracy, and time constraints of work product.
• Collaborate with Project Management, DOC, Data Maintenance, Planning, Operations, Transmission, Construction.
• Mentor and/or train staff to transfer design knowledge to others.
• Integrate safety, reliability, operability, constructability, and configuration management into final products/designs/processes.
• Proficient with MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
• Demonstrate strong time management, organization, and multi-tasking.
• Work outdoors extended hours, travel including overnight stays.
