Job summary

Niles Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking an experienced cook to join our TEAM. The Cook prepares meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while following dietary restrictions and providing alternatives for our residents.

Our ideal candidate has some institutional cooking experience, solid knowledge of sanitation, and a sincere desire to work with elders. A high school education and a sanitation certificate are required, with ability to cook large quantities safely.

Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or equivalent.
• One (1) year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred (but not necessary)
• Must have a sanitation certificate
• Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
• Must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures

Responsibilities

• A Cook prepares meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner following dietary restrictions.
• Provides alternatives for residents as needed.
• Maintains sanitation and hygienic food preparation.
• Follows verbal and written instructions.
• Maintains a courteous, empathetic, and professional attitude.
• Maintains confidentiality of all activities and persons.
• Communicates effectively in writing and verbally to perform duties.
