Job summary

Seattle Hebrew Academy is seeking an experienced English Language Development (ELD) Teacher to support Kindergarten through 8th Grade students developing English proficiency. The teacher will provide individualized and small-group instruction to help multilingual learners access grade-level curriculum and participate fully in the school community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • ESOL/TESOL/TOEFL/CELTA/DELTA/ML or EL certification or endorsement preferred.
  • Teaching certification preferred.
  • Experience teaching English learners in elementary and/or middle school settings.
  • Strong understanding of second-language acquisition and effective ELL instructional practices.
  • Knowledge of Hebrew is beneficial but not required.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and small group intervention.
  • Knowledge of UDL and inclusive instructional practices preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students across a wide range of ages, language levels, cultures, and academic needs.
  • Warm, flexible, organized, and committed to supporting the whole child.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group English language instruction for students in grades K–8.
  • Support students in developing skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, and academic English.
  • Differentiate instruction based on students’ ages, English proficiency levels, and individual learning needs.
  • Support students in accessing grade-level classroom curriculum and assignments.
  • Collaborate with the Gesher Program Director, classroom teachers and the Learning Center team to identify student needs and appropriate supports.
  • Develop instructional goals and monitor student progress.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt lessons, materials, assignments, and assessments as appropriate.
  • Provide teachers with strategies and tools for supporting multilingual learners within the general classroom.
  • Communicate with teachers and families regarding student progress as appropriate.
  • Maintain organized records of instruction, goals, and progress.
  • Help students build confidence and independence as English learners.
  • Participate in student support meetings and contribute to intervention and support plans.

Seattle Hebrew Academy - ELD Teacher

Seattle Hebrew Academy is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and student centered English Language Development Teacher to support students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade who are developing English language proficiency. The ELD Teacher will provide individualized and small-group instruction to help multilingual learners develop the English language skills needed to succeed academically and participate fully in the school community. Seattle Hebrew Academy values educators who are flexible, collaborative, and committed to helping students from a variety of backgrounds become confident and successful learners.

The ELD Teacher will work closely with General Studies and Judaic Studies teachers, the Learning Center team, and school leadership to identify student needs, develop appropriate supports, monitor progress, and ensure that students receive consistent support across their school day.
