Job summary

Keeneyville SD 20 is seeking an EL Resource Teacher - Bilingual Spanish Certified for the 2026-2027 school year at Spring Wood Middle School. This full-time position reports to the Principal and follows 181-day terms under the KEA agreement.

Required: PEL with Elementary K-9 or Middle School endorsements and Spanish bilingual certification, with preferred Language Arts/Math 5-8 endorsements and recent Middle School teaching experience.

Qualifications

• PEL with appropriate Elementary K-9 or Middle School endorsements.
• Bilingual Certification - Spanish Required.
• Language Arts and/or Math grades 5-8 endorsements preferred.
• Middle School teaching experience within the last five years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy for English Learners.
• Knowledge of Illinois English Language Proficiency Standards for English Learners.
• Deep understanding of second language acquisition.
• Demonstrate ability to teach newcomers to the United States.
• Multicultural awareness and experience with diverse student demographics.
• Demonstrate knowledge of students and instructional goals based on standards.
• Select appropriate individualized instructional goals based on WIDA and ELD Standards.
• Use resources to support effective student learning.
• Design small-group instruction aligned with Illinois Learning Standards and Common Core.
• Assess and document student learning, growth, and mastery of standards.

Employment terms: 181 days per collective bargaining agreement with the KEA

Qualifications

1. Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate Elementary K-9 or Middle School endorsements
2. Bilingual Certification - Spanish Required
3. Language Arts and/or Math grades 5-8 endorsement preferred
4. Middle School teaching experience within the last five years preferred

Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy as it relates to English Learners
• Knowledge of Illinois English Language Proficiency Standards for English Language Learners
• Deep understanding of second language acquisition
• Demonstrate range of knowledge in teaching newcomers to the United States
• Multicultural awareness and experience working with the diverse student demographics
• Demonstrate knowledge of students
• Selection of appropriate individualized instructional goals based on WIDA and the ELD Standards Framework
• Demonstrate knowledge of resources to support effective student learning
• Design coherent, small group instruction based on mastery of the Illinois Learning Standards incorporating the Common Core
• Effectively assessment student learning and document evidence of student learning, growth, and mastery of standards
