EL Resource Teacher - Bilingual Spanish Certified
Grades K-9
Full-Time Position
Reports to: Principal
Location: Spring Wood Middle School
Employment terms: 181 days per collective bargaining agreement with the KEA
Qualifications
- Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate Elementary K-9 or Middle School endorsements
- Bilingual Certification - Spanish Required
- Language Arts and/or Math grades 5-8 endorsement preferred
- Middle School teaching experience within the last five years preferred
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy as it relates to English Learners
- Knowledge of Illinois English Language Proficiency Standards for English Language Learners
- Deep understanding of second language acquisition
- Demonstrate range of knowledge in teaching newcomers to the United States
- Multicultural awareness and experience working with the diverse student demographics
- Demonstrate knowledge of students
- Selection of appropriate individualized instructional goals based on WIDA and the ELD Standards Framework
- Demonstrate knowledge of resources to support effective student learning
- Design coherent, small group instruction based on mastery of the Illinois Learning Standards incorporating the Common Core
- Effectively assessment student learning and document evidence of student learning, growth, and mastery of standards
