Job Title: EL Auxiliary Instructor
Supervised by/Reports to: Principal
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Job Goal:
1. To assist with targeted instruction and educational support for students who are not proficientEnglishspeakers,specificallyfocusingonstudentsingradesK-2.Toassist these students to achieve grade level proficiency in English language skills, reading and math.
Qualifications:
- 1. Must meet one of the following qualifications: two years of higher education, successful passage of the Work Keys Test, or CDA.Those who do not currently hold the CDA must be willing to obtain it or be willing to complete 9 hours of early childhood education courses.
- 2. AnAssociateDegreepreferred.
- 3. ExperienceworkingwithELstudents, stronglypreferred.
- 4. Demonstratedproficiencyinoralandwrittencommunicationwithstudents,parents and others.
- 5. Effectiveinterpersonalskills,withanemphasisoncommunicationandcollaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
- 6. Abilityto identifyand solve problemsas aproductiveteammember.
- 7. Abilitytocarryoutverbal and writteninstructions.
- 8. Physicalstrength,mobility,dexterityandacuitytoperformjobresponsibilitiesand essential functions in a fast-paced, intensive environment.
- 9. Abilitytousetechnologytocommunicate,tomanagedata,andtoproduce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.

PerformanceResponsibilitiesandEssentialFunctions:
- 1. Demonstratessupportfor theschoolsystemanditsvision,goals,andpriorities.
- 2. AssiststeacherswithinstructionandfacilitateslearningopportunitiesforK-2English language learners.
- 3. Providesinstructionto studentsas prescribedbytheclassroom teacherorprincipal.
- 4. Assists teachers in checking and objectivelyevaluating students’ work; works with studentsindividuallyandinsmallgroupsreinforcingskillsbaseduponinstructional guidelines; utilizes reading and math programs to build student academic skills, utilizesgames,storiesorothermanipulativestoenhancestudents’learningand English language skills.
- 5. Performstasksconsistentwiththeneedsofthestudentasdeterminedbytheregular classroom teacher or principal.
- 6. Maintainsappropriateconfidentialityregardingschool/workplacematters.
- 7. Demonstratesinitiativeinidentifyingpotentialproblemsand/oropportunitiesfor improvement in areas of responsibility.
- 8. Reportspotentialproblems,unusualevents,orworkirregularitiestoappropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.
- 9. Respondstoinquiries,requests,constructivefeedback,concernsand/orcomplaintsina timely and positive manner.
- 10. Maintainsandsubmitsreports,records,andcorrespondenceinatimelyandaccurate manner.
- 11. Properlyuses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system andeffectivelysupervisesandmonitorsothersinthecare,maintenance,anduseof tools, equipment, and inventory.
- 12. Useseffectivecollaboration skillstoworkasaproductiveteammember.
- 13. Servesonschoolsystemcommittees,taskforces,andrepresentativegroupsas required.
- 14. Adherestoschoolsystemrules,administrativeprocedures,localBoardpolicies,and state, federal, and local regulations.

The employee is frequently required to talk and hear.
