Banner Health is seeking an EKG Technician for Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ. You will perform 12-lead EKGs, rhythm strips, and stress tests for adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced setting.

The role emphasizes teamwork, clear communication, and time management, with a daytime shift and options for per diem opportunities; prior EKG experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Completion of courses in EKG and 12 Lead.
• BLS certification.
• One year of clinical environment experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic prescribed non-invasive cardiovascular procedures per department policies.

• Ensures accurate and readable recordings and prepares data for interpretation.

The EKG Technician will work in a large, fast paced facility and will have to prioritize tasks often. You will be working with adult and pediatric patients performing 12 lead EKGs, rhythm strips, and several types of stress tests. Teamwork, communication with coworkers, and time management are key.

Location: Banner Thunderbird Medical Center; W 5555 Thunderbird Rd Shift Availability: Sunday-Saturday; 5:30am-3:30pm; no weekends or call

POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs basic prescribed non-invasive cardiovascular procedures to patients. This position analyzes data during the recording, making certain that the information being obtained is valid and interpretable. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population.

CORE FUNCTIONS

• Performs basic prescribed standard non-invasive cardiovascular procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
• Identifies and documents procedures as outlined by departmental policies and procedures to maximize patient outcome.
• Ensures an accurate and readable recording using deductive reasoning to trouble shoot minor problems, make adjustments as needed during the procedure and prepares recordings for interpretation.
• Collects and/or reviews pertinent medical, historical, and medication information in order to perform the appropriate study prescribed by the physician as outlined by departmental policies and procedures.
• Assists with activities to improve department processes, facilitate testing and maintain quality to achieve optimal patient results.
• May assists in scheduling of patients, charge entry and maintains equipment as outlined by department policies and procedures. Must complete courses in EKG and 12 Lead.
• Independently performs prescribed non-invasive cardiovascular procedures to patients.

Internal customers: All levels of nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team.

External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Completion of courses in EKG and 12 Lead.
• Certification for BLS required.
• This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with one year of experience in a relevant clinical environment.
• Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, basic mathematical skills, analyze data and solve basic problems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior experience/training in non-invasive cardiology procedures.
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
