Job summary

Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is seeking a Per Diem Electrodiagnostics Technician to perform diagnostic electrocardiograms (EKGs), monitor placement (Holter, event, and mobile telemetry) and stress testing, with patient education related to the studies. You will attach electrodes, obtain readings, program monitors, monitor during procedures and forward results to physicians.

No prior experience is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred and BLS certification must be obtained

  • BLS certification within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Attaches electrode leads to proper body areas and prepares skin.
  • Obtains and documents EKG readings as directed.
  • Programs monitors and registers patients online depending on the ordered monitor.
  • Monitors patients during procedures and reports abnormal findings; corrects artifacts.
  • Notes and forwards results to physicians for analysis and interpretation.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies.
  • Monitors and processes EKGs in the EKG software and EMR.

Weekend Requirements: As Needed | Work Hours: Flexible | Status: Per Diem/PRN - 0.0 FTE (less than 40 hours per pay period) | Entity: Owensboro Health Regional Hospital | Department: Electrodiagnostics

Job Summary:

Performs diagnostic electrocardiograms (EKGs), monitor placement (Holter, event, and mobile telemetry) and stress testing providing patient education associated with studies.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Attaches electrode leads to proper body areas based on ordered tests. Prepares skin and surroundings to ensure valid results.

  • Obtains and documents EKG readings as directed.

  • Programs monitors and registers patients on-line depending on the ordered monitor.

  • Monitors patients during procedures and reports any abnormal findings. Identifies and corrects artifacts.

  • Notes and forwards results to physicians for analysis and interpretation.

  • Maintains equipment and supplies.

  • Monitor and process EKGs in the EKG software and the electronic medical record (EMR).

Skills and Attributes:
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.

  • Works under minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
