Job summary

Welcome to Eisenhower Medical Center. This position performs electrocardiography studies on all patient populations served and maintains communication between physicians, nursing and other departments as part of the health care delivery team.

Required: EKG Class; AHA BLS; 1 year EKG experience; preferred: Cardiovascular or Medical Assistant program graduate. Full-time, 40 hours weekly, Day shift in the United States of America.

Qualifications

  • Required: EKG Class
  • Preferred: Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular or Medical Assistant program
  • Licensure/Certification: American Heart Association BLS
  • Experience: One year of EKG experience

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Obtains artifact-free electrocardiography.
  • Performs adequate holter monitors.
  • Performs EKGs in codes or cardioversion.
  • Performs holter scanning on all recordings including pacer.
  • Downloads EKGs into the MUSE system and prepares the EKGs for the physicians.
  • Performs stress testing procedures.
  • Prepares the patient’s room and equipment for the electrocardiography.
  • Prepares the patient according to the test being performed and confirm the status of skin allergies with patients.
  • Documents and process procedures on a daily basis in the database.
  • Processes billing charges or credits on a daily basis.
  • Performs photocopying, filing, charting of reports in patients’ medical records as needed.
  • Completes the care and operation of EKG equipment according to technical specifications and application of equipment.
  • Maintains clean, well-stocked equipment with supplies and “in good working order” after each shift.
  • Reports any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to Bio-med and takes the necessary step in processing reported equipment.
  • Provides teaching and educational material related to electrocardiography to patients and significant others, while also offering timely feedback to the team regarding performance.
  • Assists leader with allocating resources according to priorities and ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Objective: Performs electrocardiography studies on all patient populations served. Maintains communication between physicians, nursing and other departments as part of the health care delivery team.

Education

Required: EKG Class Preferred: Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular or Medical Assistant program

Required: American Heart Association BLS

  • Ability to perform all duties with the MUSE system
  • Ability to perform holter scanning on all recordings including pacers
  • Ability to perform stress testing procedures

  • Ability to “stand-by” in cardiac arrests (codes) or cardioversion
  • Knowledge of Cardiology modalities in the clinical setting
