Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an EIT 2 to join our Civil and Environmental Business Sector in a flexible hybrid work environment. The successful candidate will design, analyze, and support civil engineering projects while collaborating with a multidiscipline team across client sites.

Responsibilities include planning and designing tasks, performing technical studies, and using AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop detailed designs. A minimum of 2 years' experience and FE/EIT certification are required.

Qualifications

  • FE exam passed and EIT certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of civil engineering design experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and facilitate civil engineering project designs.

Job description

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an EIT 2 to work within our Civil and Environmental Business Sector. The successful candidate will enjoy a challenging, fast‑paced, and team‑oriented environment that utilizes their experience to develop professionally and grow in today's global context. This position is eligible for GAI’s flexible Hybrid workplace place/Telework Policy.

Job Duties
  • Plans, designs, and facilitates civil engineer project design tasks
  • Undertakes technical and feasibility studies.
  • Collaborates with other professionals and discusses requirements with clients.
  • Uses computer programs to develop detailed designs.
  • Ensures that work products meet client, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Performs work under professional engineering staff.
  • Handles basic issues and problems but refers more complex issues to higher‑level staff.
  • Possesses working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and civil engineering design tasks.
  • Strong collaboration, oral and written communication, design expertise, and problem‑solving skills are required.
  • Requires local/regional travel: 20‑40% of time (1‑2 days per week as needed for project‑related work/occasional overnight travel).

  • Acquires fundamental knowledge and develops skills in a specific practice area through mentored experience.
  • Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment.
Minimum Year(s) of Experience
  • 2+ years
Education
  • B.S. or M.S. Engineering
Certification / Licensure
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and obtained engineer‑in‑training (EIT) or engineering‑intern (EI) certification.
Technical Responsibilities
  • Performs basic design tasks.
  • Assists on tasks such as field activities, material testing, CADD work, permit applications, and report writing.
Project and Task Management
  • Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope.
  • No managerial responsibilities at this level.
Management Responsibility
  • Receives close supervision on most aspects of assignments, particularly on difficult problems, and a general review of all aspects of work.
  • Receives mentorship from a licensed engineer.
Communication Skills
  • Possesses basic oral and written communication skills.
  • Engages in few project stakeholder interactions.
