Job description

Play an integral role in ensuring electrical, instrumentation, and control systems are accurately documented and verified to support safe operations, maintenance activities, regulatory compliance, and future capital projects. As an EI&C Walkdown Designer / Engineer, you will serve as a critical bridge between design, construction, and operations by validating field installations, identifying discrepancies, and developing accurate as-built documentation.

This highly technical, field-focused position provides the opportunity to work directly within operating facilities, verifying real-world conditions against design documents and creating the foundation for future engineering, maintenance, reliability, and project work. Your attention to detail, technical expertise, and commitment to accuracy will directly impact facility safety, operational integrity, and long-term asset management.

Purpose of the role

The EI&C Walkdown Designer / Engineer is responsible for providing field engineering and design support following construction activities to ensure electrical, instrumentation, and control systems are accurately reflected in engineering documentation and as-built records. Acting as a key field resource, you will conduct detailed system walkdowns, verify installations against design documentation, identify discrepancies, and support the development of accurate as-built drawings and records.

Working closely with operations personnel, engineering teams, maintenance groups, construction organizations, and design teams, you will ensure facility documentation accurately reflects field conditions and serves as a reliable foundation for ongoing operations and future projects. Through effective communication and technical expertise, you will support safe execution, operational reliability, and continuous improvement across facility systems.

You Will Be Responsible For
  • Conducting detailed field walkdowns of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to verify installations against issued-for-construction (IFC) drawings, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, schematics, one-lines, and related engineering documentation.
  • Verifying field installations and documenting as-built conditions associated with electrical equipment, instrumentation devices, control systems, cable routing, junction boxes, panels, and associated infrastructure.
  • Reviewing engineering drawings and identifying discrepancies between design documentation and actual field conditions.
  • Marking up drawings with field revisions and redlines to accurately reflect as-built configurations.
  • Supporting the preparation and development of accurate as-built documentation for long-term facility use.
  • Identifying safety concerns, operability issues, maintenance challenges, and improvement opportunities encountered during field walkdowns.
  • Coordinating closely with facility operations and maintenance personnel to validate system configurations and operating requirements.
  • Collaborating with engineering, construction, and project teams to resolve documentation discrepancies and technical issues.
  • Coordinating with the EI&C design team in Bogotá, Colombia, to communicate field findings, redlines, and as-built information for incorporation into final engineering deliverables.
  • Maintaining accurate records of field observations, drawings, markups, and documentation updates.
  • Supporting project teams with technical information related to existing facility conditions and installed equipment.
  • Assisting with system turnover verification, operational readiness activities, and facility documentation improvements.
  • Promoting safe work practices and ensuring all field activities are executed in compliance with applicable safety requirements and site procedures.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives focused on documentation accuracy, engineering quality, and operational excellence.
  • Communicating findings, recommendations, and technical concerns effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
