Job summary

Fort Walton Machining, Inc. in Fort Walton Beach, FL is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Technician to develop, implement, coordinate and monitor employee safety programs.

You will ensure plant floor safety, maintain plant cleanliness, and keep EPA/OSHA/DOT records current, including SDS and wastewater pretreatment system compliance. The ideal candidate holds an Associate's degree or higher, has 3+ years in manufacturing, and is proficient with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations for Manufacturing environments.
• Three (3) years’ work experience in a manufacturing, industrial environment preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to respond to and support emergency situations that may arise on a 24/7 basis.

Responsibilities

• Make recommendations for improved accident and loss prevention.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, EPA, OSHA.
• Enhance/improve the welfare of employees and the organization through education, behavioral change, cultural support and the continual process of safety improvement.
• Conduct/facilitate training seminars in order to provide employees with information regarding safe working practices and accident prevention methods.
• Prepare and review investigation reports and take appropriate actions; develop strategies to prevent future recurrences.
• Perform safety audits on all machinery as instructed by management.
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Inspects, monitors, and performs routine maintenance on wastewater pretreatment system.
