Job summary

Total Safety U.S., Inc. is seeking an EHS Technician to perform industrial hygiene field investigations, noise and IAQ sampling, and data reporting. The role requires operating field testing equipment, maintaining instruments, and assisting with site safety inspections across client sites.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct industrial hygiene surveys including personal air, noise sampling, illumination and ventilation surveys, IAQ assessments, and related studies.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain sampling pumps, calibrators, dosimeters, meters, and gas meters.
  • Perform client-site safety inspections and collect notes or logs for project work.
  • Complete data sheets, IH calculations, chain-of-custody forms, and prepare samples for lab shipment.
  • Create data tables and assist with notification letters; enter field data into client tracking software.
  • Submit administrative paperwork on time and in a neat format.

Total Safety is looking for an EHS Technician to join their safety-conscious team! The EHS Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to, completion of industrial hygiene field investigations, identifying monitoring methods and media, performing exposure monitoring for hydrocarbons, particulates, and other airborne contaminants, conducting noise dosimetry sampling and completing area noise surveys, assisting with indoor air quality investigations, operating and maintaining field testing equipment, and compiling data from field investigations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Conduct industrial hygiene surveys including, but not limited to, personal air and noise sampling, sound level surveys, illumination surveys, ventilation surveys, indoor air quality assessments, and other studies as appropriate to level of expertise.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment and instruments including sampling pumps, calibrators, noise dosimeters, sound level meters, and direct-reading gas meters.
  • Conduct safety inspections at client sites.
  • Collect notes on activities performed by workers being monitored and/or maintains a daily log of activities related to project work.
  • Complete data sheets, IH calculations, chain-of-custody forms, and prepare samples for shipment to the laboratory.
  • Create data tables and assist with notification letters.
  • Enters field data into client-owned tracking software, if warranted.
  • Submits administrative paperwork including timesheets, expense reports, field reports, etc. on a timely basis in an accurate and neat format.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Training in asbestos, lead, or mold preferred, but not required. Additional training may be required depending on client- or project-specific requirements and/or company policies.
  • Proficiency in the care and use of all site-specific, facility, and customer-required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ability to be trained in Respiratory Protection and certified to wear respiratory breathing equipment (Fit Tested).
  • PC skills with the ability to learn new software. Ability to learn OSHA regulations, ACGIH, ANSI, CGA, and other applicable EHS guidelines and consensus standards.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

May be infrequently exposed to operational hazards while working in or visiting an operational site, including dust, fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, rotating machinery, high pressure, hot or cold work temperatures, slippery surfaces, water, and electrical hazards. Exposure to extreme fluctuations in temperature may be required. May be exposed to noise at varying intensities. Exposure to the outdoor environment. Work may require long hours between breaks and meals. Must be able to travel for overnight periods, sometimes on short notice.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED, plus ability to obtain ARSC (Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils) Basic Orientation Plus, Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®), and client-site-specific safety orientation. An associate or advanced degree in a science or technology-related field such as industrial hygiene, engineering, industrial technology, environmental sciences, safety, biology, physics, or chemistry is preferred.
