Job description

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate WWT operators.
  • Supervise WWT maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of equipment; verify proper implementation of the WWT preventive maintenance plan and issuance of work orders for corrective maintenance.
  • Assist in all Process Engineering matters related to WWT and EHS.
  • Maintain accurate records of WWT processes, inspections, and compliance reports to ensure conformance with all environmental regulations.
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of WWT monitoring equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance and troubleshooting of WWT equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Analyze safety metrics to identify trends and establish improvement projects and procedures to reduce future risk.
  • Administer divisional environmental programs, including hazardous waste, stormwater, air emissions, TRI, Tier II, and chemical management programs to ensure full compliance.
  • Assist in the management of wastes and reclaim streams to ensure proper handling and disposal.
  • Review capital projects to ensure employee EHS concerns are being addressed.
  • Develop and analyze data to create predictive models for use in future employee health and welfare projects and training opportunities.
  • Manage the fire protection systems by working with contractors to schedule testing and repairs.
  • Work with production to be proactive with design/process changes that will have an EHS impact.
  • Conduct environmental, health & safety site evaluations in conjunction with the EHS department to develop efficient site compliance strategies.
  • Conduct safety drills and ensure the availability of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Develop and conduct monthly impactful health and safety training sessions.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and emergency response plans for spills, overflows, and equipment failures.
  • Coordinate drills to ensure readiness for environmental or safety incidents.
  • Report all accidents, near misses and safety concerns.
  • Perform job duties utilizing the required and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Fully participate in safety training and follow directions identified in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), PPE Assessments, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and all Safety Procedures and alerts.
  • Facilitate and attend meetings, communicate regularly with managers and supervisors, suggest and compose procedural changes, attend special training, maintain a clean, safe work environment and communicate to supervisors any safety hazards and issues.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Solid understanding of the principles of wastewater treatment processes and their applications.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles and practices effectively in wastewater treatment discipline.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong multitasking skills and ability to lead by example.
  • Good mathematical skills and proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office, Outlook.
  • Reliable, dependable, fast learner.
  • Availability for calls from off‑shift supervisors after office hours.
  • Good reading vision and ability to sit up to 10 hours per day.
Education and Experience
  • Four‑Year Degree in a related field preferred, but not required.
  • 2+ years in an EHS role in a manufacturing setting.
  • First Aid response training.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range is $78,850 – $131,417. Additional compensation may include an annual or quarterly company bonus and, for alternative shift positions, a shift premium based on the assigned shift and location.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), flexible spending and health savings accounts, accident benefits, life insurance, disability benefits, paid vacation & holidays (benefits available starting the 1st day of the month following hire). Paid Time Off (PTO) and holiday benefits may also be offered.
