Diversified Gas & Oil Corporation is seeking an EH&S Specialist - Safety to report to the Director of Safety. This role focuses on safety training, incident management, and broad environmental health and safety support across assets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health, Safety, or related discipline is desired.
  • Be an ASP, CSP, CHSO or have a safety certification, or be in the process of becoming certified.
  • Willingness to learn broad environmental and regulatory topics through immersion.
  • Basic understanding of oil and gas operations and compliance implications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide safety training efforts and ensure engaging delivery.
  • Manage safety management system documents and evolve them in the document system.
  • Coordinate safety leadership meetings and cross-functional safety initiatives.
  • Provide enterprise-wide EHS support to assets and lead strategic programs.
  • Conduct field visits, assessments, inspections, training, and project management.
  • Assist operations leaders with safety guidance and risk mitigation.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

The EH&S Specialist - Safety will report to the Director of Safety.


This is a safety-focused role with additional responsibilities to provide environmental support on a periodic basis. Growth opportunities are heavily influenced by a willingness to become proficient in broad Environmental, Health and Safety roles.


Special focus will initially be placed on:



  • Leads enterprise-wide safety training efforts. Provides effective training that engages the audience.

  • Leads management of safety management system documents across evolution from creation, collaboration and placement in the document management system.

  • Maintains a strong bias for action and engagement with field-based EHS representatives. Coordinates bi-weekly sharing sessions. Seeks to understand the safety challenges of operations and works collaboratively to develop solutions.

  • Provides enterprise-wide support to assigned assets, participates and leads selected enterprise-wide strategic programs and projects.

  • Coordinates Safety Leadership Committee meetings

  • Serves as a conduit for all incidents, near miss, Good Catch, and Stop Work Expectations, moving incidents from response to corrective action and closure using the Novara system

  • In support of field EHS representatives, performs engaging field visits, assessments, inspections, training, and project management.

  • Provides guidance and assistance to field operations and operations leaders.

  • Assess the safety needs of supported areas and systematically address the issues identified.

  • Collaborate to solve problems with creative solutions to produce significant results.

  • Contribute to and influences team priorities as a strong team member or leader.

  • Seeks the ideas and opinions of others. Encourages and motivates teams to accomplish results.

  • Fosters trust by building relationships first and then successfully provide mentorship to operations in safety and environmental matters.

  • Makes recommendations after anticipating work/project requirements and considering business impact and risks.



Position Requirements


  • 3 to 5 years of experience working directly for an oil and gas operator with safety and environmental responsibilities is strongly preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of all computer tools including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Co-Pilot, Business Intelligence Dashboards and metrics is required. Experience with AI tools is a plus.

  • Must be able to present EHS training topics in an engaging manner, based on experience presenting in front of large groups

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health, Safety, or related discipline is desired.

  • Be an ASP, CSP, CHSO or have a safety certification, or be in the process of becoming certified. At a minimum, must be willing to seek safety credentials, preferably a CSP.

  • Safety-focused coursework is preferred.

  • Willingness to learn broad environmental and regulatory topics through immersion.

  • Basic understanding of oil and gas operations, equipment nomenclature and typical usage, implications for compliance with environmental, health and safety laws.

  • Effective project management, business writing, presentation, training and leadership capabilities.

  • Having both environmental and safety experience is strongly preferred.

  • Have direct experience with incident investigations and corrective action development.

  • Spill management and cleanup experience.

  • Have proven versatility and ability to adapt rapidly to business conditions



Physical Requirements and Working Conditions


  • Prolonged periods working at a desk in front of a computer.
