Job summary

Bio-Rad Laboratories in Northern California near Hercules seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist (EHS) III to support safety programs across R&D, manufacturing, and distribution. The role reports to the Northern California EHS Manager and coordinates onsite safety initiatives, training, and incident investigations.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in a technical field and 5+ years of EHS experience, with knowledge of Cal/OSHA and EPA regulations; SAP/PowerBI experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (safety/health, engineering, biology, or chemistry).
• 5+ years of experience in occupational and environmental safety and health.
• Regulatory knowledge including Cal/OSHA and EPA; local requirements are a plus.
• MS Office Suite proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to shift priorities and work at a rapid pace.
• Experience with SAP and other software such as PowerBI, Docusign, Smartsheets or UL Wercs is a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage environmental safety programs (storm water, air quality, chemical storage, hazardous waste).
• Lead onsite safety teams, including emergency response teams and safety committees.
• Coordinate EHS activities across multiple sites to improve safety culture and sustainability.
• Develop and deliver safety training.
• Support manufacturing and regulatory departments through process or material reviews and SDS development.
• Lead accident investigations to identify corrective actions.

Job description

• Working with a global team, the Environmental Health & Safety Specialist (EHS) III will support the occupational and environmental health and safety programs for our R&D, manufacturing, and distribution activities in northern California, in and around Hercules, California.
• Under the leadership of the Northern California EHS Manager, this position will be responsible for:
• Coordination of onsite occupational safety programs related to lock out / tag out, industrial ergonomics, hazard communication and chemical management, bio-safety, etc.
• Management of environmental safety programs related to storm water, air quality, chemical storage and management, hazardous waste, etc.
• Leading onsite safety teams, including emergency response teams and safety committees.
• Coordinating EHS activities at multiple sites to drive improvements in safety culture and sustainability.
• Developing and delivering appropriate safety training.
• Providing support for manufacturing and regulatory departments through process or materials reviews and product safety data sheet development as requested.
• Leading accident investigations to identify proper corrective actions or solutions.
  

What You Bring:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical field, including safety and health, engineering, biology, or chemistry
• Work Experience: 5+ years of work experience in occupational and environmental safety and health
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements such as Cal/OSHA and EPA. Experience with local and county regulatory requirements a plus
• Skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook
• The ability to effectively shift priorities and work at a rapid pace is required
• Experience with SAP and other software such as PowerBI, Docusign, Smartsheets or UL Wercs is a plus
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Compensation

The estimated hourly range for this position is $51.87 to $71.34 per hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. As a temporary associate, your employment will be managed directly through our approved agency provider.
