Job summary

Haleon seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Environmental Specialist to ensure site compliance with federal, state and local environmental laws, and Haleon’s standards. The role focuses on identifying and mitigating environmental risks, protecting employees and the environment, and supporting continuous improvement in performance.

The position is based in Lincoln, Nebraska, not remote, and involves partnering with regulatory agencies, conducting investigations, and leading risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, and/or Occupational Safety or related field.
• Experience managing EHS risks in FMCG/pharma or high-hazard sectors preferred.
• Formal knowledge of safety/environmental regulations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site compliance with federal, state, local environmental regs and Haleon standards.
• Develop programs to identify, assess and control environmental risks.
• Manage regulatory reporting, compliance calendars and hazardous waste handling.
• Lead site inspections, audits and regulatory compliance activities with agencies.
• Conduct investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
• Maintain EHS policies, KPIs and training aligned with company strategy.
• Monitor performance, identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
• Review projects for EHS risks and ensure safe implementation.

About the role

The EHS Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring site compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, as well as Haleon’s internal environmental standards. This includes oversight of requirements related to air, water, soil, waste management, and sustainability across site operations and associated properties.

This role is focused on proactively identifying and mitigating environmental risks by developing and recommending effective strategies to minimize exposure to hazardous conditions. The Environmental Specialist plays a critical role in protecting employees, the environment, and the company by maintaining compliance, promoting best practices, and supporting continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Role Responsibilities

• Ensure site compliance with all federal, state, local, and company environmental regulations across air, water, soil, waste, and sustainability.
• Develop and implement programs to identify, assess, and control environmental risks and exposures.
• Manage environmental compliance processes, including regulatory reporting, compliance calendars, and hazardous waste handling and disposal.
• Partner with regulatory agencies and lead site inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
• Conduct and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
• Establish and maintain EHS policies, procedures, KPIs, and training programs aligned with company strategy.
• Monitor EHS performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support change management by reviewing projects and new processes for EHS risks and ensuring safe implementation.
• Collaborate with global teams to share best practices and strengthen overall EHS performance.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Sciences, and/or Occupational Safety (or other related specialization)
• Experience in managing EHS risks in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), Pharmaceutical or related high-hazard sector.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience establishing programs to manage the site’s different EHS risks and impacts, coordinated within an overall EHS management system.
• Experience reviewing change proposals (including capital projects and new product
• Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
• Registered Environmental Manager (REM)
• This position requires knowledge of Safety and Environmental requirements and regulations. Hence any formal education around these requirements is preferred.
• At least 4 years’ experience in the Environmental Field.
• Knowledge in the use of Environmental tracking databases.
• Good relationship building and networking, to engage effectively with site personnel, senior management, EHS and Regional leads.

Location – this role is based in: Lincoln, Nebraska. This is not a remote opportunity.
