Job summary

Greymatter Solutions is seeking an EHS Specialist to provide technical expertise and operational support across the Tampa facility. You will collaborate with Plant Management, Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Corporate EHS teams to ensure regulatory compliance and a proactive safety culture.

Responsibilities include leading site EHS management, driving key safety programs, and performing audits, investigations, and training to sustain safe operating practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in OSH, Environmental Science, Safety/Chemical/Environmental Eng, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive EHS program experience in manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Solid knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Experience with incident investigation methodologies and safety engineering principles.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Benchmark Gensuite or similar.

Job description

Role: EHS Specialist

Location: Tampa, FL (On-Site)

The EHS Specialist provides technical expertise and operational support to drive environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across the facility. Working collaboratively with Plant Management, Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Corporate EHS teams, this role is critical to maintaining regulatory compliance, embedding a proactive safety culture, and sustaining safe operating practices.

Key Focus Areas

Hands-on experience with Machine Guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Confined Space Entry is strongly emphasized for this role.

Key Responsibilities
Program Management & Technical Support
  • Lead and maintain site-level EHS management systems in alignment with Corporate EHS standards and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA).
  • Drive core safety programs, focusing heavily on Machine Guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Confined Space safety protocols.
  • Identify site-specific EHS needs and implement localized solutions to ensure long-term sustainability and compliance.
  • Utilize EHS Enterprise Software (Benchmark Gensuite) to log, track, and analyze incident data, near-misses, and corrective action plans.
Field Audits & Incident Investigation
  • Conduct routine site audits, workplace inspections, and hazard assessments alongside plant leadership to identify and correct facility deficiencies.
  • Lead root-cause analyses for accidents and incidents, partnering with plant leadership to implement timely corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support Human Resources and Corporate EHS in managing Workers'' Compensation cases according to company policy.
Training & Continuous Improvement
  • Facilitate EHS orientation for new hires and oversee ongoing safety training across departments (Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Admin).
  • Use safety metrics and data trends to recommend updates to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and training materials.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and partner with engineering teams on capital project planning to ensure EHS alignment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Field Presence: Active floor presence in manufacturing environments requiring the standard use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, long-sleeved shirts, and long pants.
  • Travel & Hours: Ability to work flexible hours and travel for business needs/regional projects as required. (Note: Safety shoe reimbursement provided)
Required
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Safety/Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of progressive work experience managing EHS programs within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, industrial hygiene practices, incident investigation methodologies, and safety engineering principles.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with EHS management databases (e.g., Benchmark Gensuite).
Preferred
  • Advanced Degree: Master’s Degree (MA/MS) in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Science.
  • Certifications: ASP (Associate Safety Professional), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CEP (Certified Environmental Professional).
