Job summary

Bunge in Destrehan, Louisiana is seeking a safety-focused professional to help implement EHS programs that reinforce a safety-first culture and ensure regulatory compliance. The role reports to the site EHS Manager and covers incident tracking, training, investigations, and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities include enforcing safety policies, conducting regulatory training, inspecting facilities for compliance, and coordinating workers’ compensation and regulatory programs.

Qualifications

• Degree preferred or up to 3 years of safety or environmental experience
• Experience improving SIF (Serious Injury/Fatality) incidents and HPEs (High Potential Exposures)
• Experience applying EHS standards and ensuring regulatory compliance
• Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing EHS programs and plans to reinforce a safety-first culture
• Communicate safety issues and policy changes to plant personnel; conduct safety/regulatory training
• Inspect facility areas for compliance with SHE policies and regulatory rules
• Provide documentation and oversight for site-specific regulatory programs (OSHA etc.)
• Maintain regulatory records and track injuries and equipment damage events
• Assist management with accident investigations to identify causes and prevention
• Support environmental sustainability initiatives at the facility
• Enforce policies to reduce high-potential exposures
• Support Loss Prevention inspection processes, focusing on fire prevention and equipment
• Coordinate workers' compensation claims with insurers
• Implement fire protection and security systems to protect property

A Day in the Life:

Assist in implementing EHS programs and plans that reinforce our safety-first culture by continuously improving our ability to prevent serious injuries, fatalities, environmental incidents, and ensuring compliance with applicable EHS regulations. Position reports to the site EHS Manager.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Implement organization Safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy and zero-incident work environment, including ensuring compliance with Bunge safety policies by all staff, contractors and visitors.
• Communicate safety issues, concerns & policy changes to all plant personnel, including conducting safety and/or regulatory training for facility personnel, visitors and/or contractors.
• Inspect assigned facility area(s) to ensure compliance with SHE policies and procedures and applicable local, state/provincial and federal rules and regulations.
• Provides documentation and oversight with site-specific regulatory programs, including but not limited to those deemed necessary by OSHA.
• Responsible for the collecting, maintaining, and organizing regulatory records.
• Track injuries and equipment damage events.
• Assist management with accident investigations to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
• Support environmental sustainability throughout the assigned facility.
• Provides support in enforcing policies and procedures to reduce or eliminate high potential exposures.
• Provides support to the Loss Prevention Control inspection process at the facility, with emphasis on fire prevention and fire protection equipment.
• Executes responses plans in the event of an environmental emergency.
• Supports the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs at the assigned location with solvents, hydrogen, ammonia, and chlorine.
• Coordinates worker's compensation claims in conjunction with insurance companies or service companies.
• Implements fire protection and security systems to protect property from loss.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

• Degree preferred or up to 3 years of safety or environmental experience required.
• Prefer demonstrated experience with making improvements in SIF potential incidents (Serious Injury, Fatality) and HPE's (High Potential Exposures).
• Prefer demonstrated success in the application of EHS standards, compliance with regulations, and the promotion of a safe working environment.
• Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong facilitation/presentation skills with the ability to influence others.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and related business software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
