Job summary

Sunrise Children’s Foundation in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a Parent Educator for our Early Head Start program. You will work from home with families, implementing the Born to Learn model to support 0-36 month olds and their caregivers.

You will recruit eligible children, develop individualized plans, and coordinate services with a team. A high school diploma and CDA-HV (or plan to obtain) are required, plus a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent).
• Must have at minimum CDA credentials for Home Visiting (CDA-HV) or willing to obtain within established time frame and maintain throughout employment.
• Must be at least 21 years old, have held a driver's license for at least 3 years, and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and determine eligibility of children from underserved populations.
• Maintain a waiting list for eligible children.
• Develop an individual plan for children and prepare lesson plans.
• Implement developmentally appropriate learning activities and support parents to provide a consistent routine.
• Establish positive relationships with families and identify their needs and goals.
• Refer families to community services and coordinate with community agencies.
• Participate in family events, developmental screenings, and required professional development activities.
• Maintain child and family data for documentation and evaluation.
• Plan and implement all socialization activities for families and children.
• Understand and document in-kind contributions and other allowable costs.

Job Location: Las Vegas - Las Vegas, NV, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $16.69 Hourly, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Early Childhood Education, ABSTRACT OF THE POSITION:

The Parent Educator serves as a home-based teacher for our Early Head Start Program working individually with 12 families to support the development of the family and their infants and toddlers. The Parent Educator will work collaboratively with a team of other home-based staff to implement the Parents as Teachers Born to Learn model for children 0-36 months (or another curriculum as appropriate) to achieve outcomes for children and families of all backgrounds and abilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES (including but not limited to):

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Must be able to lift 40 pounds including files, laptop computers, lesson plans, home visiting supplies, or other necessary items with or without material handling equipment.
• Must be able to work for long periods of time while maintaining concentrated attention to detail.
• Must be able to sit at a table or desk for long periods of time with occasional standing, walking, squatting, or reaching.
• Must be able to travel by car, bus, airplane, or train for job requirements, training or program activities as needed

Qualifications: Education & Work Experience

• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent).
• Must have at minimum Child Development Associate credential for Home Visiting (CDA-HV) or willing to obtain one within an established time frame provided by Program Manager and must maintain credential throughout the entire length of employment.
• Must be at least 21 years old, have held a driver's license for at least 3 years, and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment.

Preferred

• Associate Degree (or Higher) in Social Work, Family Services, Counseling, or another closely related field is preferred.
• Prefer 1-2 years of case management experience.
• Bilingual (English-Spanish) speaking and writing skills preferred.

• Other requirements include acquiring CPR/First Aid training, Live Scan Fingerprinting, negative TB results, physical, and passing drug/alcohol testing.
