Job summary

Eaton's IS VEH VGNA division is seeking an EHS Manager for our Kearney, NE manufacturing site. This full-time, on-site role leads Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security programs and builds a culture focused on a Zero Incident goal.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years in a manufacturing EHS role, with knowledge of ISO 14001, VPP/ESP, and relevant regulatory standards. Relocation assistance is available within the US/PR.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in an environmental, safety, or health function within a manufacturing environment and/or related industry.

Responsibilities

  • Leads creation of site EHS&S targets and objectives (MESH Plan) to support corporate, regional and business group initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations for air, land, and water to provide a safe working environment.
  • Interfaces with regulatory agencies and divisional personnel to direct environmental, safety, and health efforts.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with governmental authorities on mutual concerns, permits, and reporting.
  • Leads development and deployment of EHS management systems (ISO 14001, VPP, MESH) and drives timely action item resolution.
  • Complies with Eaton’s ethics policy and informs management of regulatory compliance issues.
  • Manages investigations, measurements, and evaluations of environmental, safety, and health conditions and coordinates related activities.

Job description

Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a EHS Manager. This is a full time, on-site position based at our Kearney, NE manufacturing plant. Relocation assistance is available to those within the US/PR.

The EHS Manager will establish, manage and coordinate all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security programs and functions of the facility. It includes developing EHS personnel for this facility and other facilities within the Corporation in areas of ISO 14001, VPP/ESP, Asbestos awareness, and the Corporate EHS Audit program (MESH), and other regulatory areas. The manager develops and implements programs to meet regulations set forth by government agencies and Eaton, maintains a secure facility by coordinating the contracted security company and applicable security measures, and supports a strong culture that engages employees in achieving the company’s goal of a "Zero Incident" culture.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $113000 - $165000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

Eaton announced, on June 11, 2026, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company. We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the transaction closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.

What You’ll Do
  • Leads the creation of the site EHS&S targets and objectives (MESH Plan) in support of corporate, regional and business group EHS&S strategic initiatives designed to drive EHS&S culture, compliance, and results.
  • Ensures that the federal, state, and local EHS regulations are met, including air, land, and water, to provide a safe working environment for employees and a clean and healthful environment for the community; maintains fiscally and socially responsible methods and processes of managing natural resources and waste.
  • Interfaces with regulatory agencies and divisional personnel to direct environmental, safety, and health efforts at the facility, in the division, and other groups within the company.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with governmental authorities on matters of mutual concern, including voluntary certification, maintenance of environmental permits, submission of required reports, and maintenance of data.
  • Leads site efforts in the development and deployment of EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, VPP, MESH) to ensure that key EHS operational controls are in place, and ensures all action items identified within those systems are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Complies with Eaton’s ethics policy and keeps the management team informed of issues associated with regulatory compliance.
  • Manages all investigations, measurements, and evaluations of environmental, safety, and health conditions and ensures that relevant research, development, planning, design, advisory and related activities occur.
Qualifications
Required Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in an environmental, safety, or health function within a manufacturing environment and/or related industry.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and/or Environmental discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), and/or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager).
  • Leader of people experience.
Additional Information
  • Proficient in maintaining, ordering, and using a wide variety of chemicals for equipment needed to support production.
  • Requires the ability to manage emergency situations effectively; this position is the incident commander of emergency response and is the go‑to person for hazardous materials response and other EHS-related emergency situations.
  • Maintains a trained Haz‑Mat Emergency Response Team.
  • Working knowledge of cross‑functional EHS disciplines, including fire suppression.
  • Ability to lead and support cross‑functional process improvement teams.
  • Ability to serve as a corporate subject matter expert in one of the EHS functional disciplines (occupational health, environmental management, safety, security, or fire protection).
