Company: American Polymer Company (APC).

Location: Multi-Site / Texas & Florida.

Position Type: Full-Time.

Position Overview:

The Group Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, standardizing, and leading safety and environmental management systems across multiple production sites within American Polymer Company.

This role ensures regulatory compliance, minimizes workplace risks, drives proactive hazard identification, and builds a world-class safety culture across operations, including thermoplastic molding, thermoset molding, and precast molding processes.

This position provides strategic leadership in establishing EHS standards, driving best practices, and embedding safety into everyday manufacturing processes. The Group EHS Manager partners closely with plant leadership, engineering, and operations teams to protect our workforce, safeguard assets, and ensure alignment with company growth and performance objectives.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Develop, implement, and standardize EHS programs, policies, and management systems across all APC production facilities.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and occupational safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, state environmental agencies, local fire authorities).
  • Drive a proactive safety culture across all sites, prioritizing hazard mitigation, near-miss reporting, safety observation programs, and behavioral-based safety practices.
  • Lead workplace hazard assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and risk mitigation initiatives across thermoplastic, thermoset, and precast molding environments.
  • Manage incident investigation processes to ensure thorough root cause analysis (RCA) and prompt execution of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Oversee internal EHS audit and inspection programs to identify operational risks, ensure compliance, and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Define, track, and report key EHS performance metrics (e.g., TRIR, DART, near-miss volume, safety training completion, open CAPA closure rates) to executive leadership.
  • Design, deliver, and standardize core EHS training programs (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Confined Space Entry, Crane & Hoist Safety, Respiratory Protection, Hazard Communication, Ergonomics).
  • Manage environmental compliance programs, including air permitting, industrial wastewater, hazardous/non-hazardous waste management, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
  • Oversee industrial hygiene monitoring programs (e.g., noise monitoring, dust exposure, air quality evaluations, chemical hazard assessments) tailored to polymer and precast operations.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations on Management of Change (MOC) processes to review new equipment, tooling, chemical usage, and facility modifications prior to implementation.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, and official inquiries.
  • Lead emergency response planning, business continuity preparation, and safety team training across all facilities.
  • Collaborate with HR and Workers' Compensation carriers to manage injury claims, support medical management, and drive effective return-to-work programs.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3–5+ years of progressive EHS management experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in plastics, polymers, or precast concrete is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or managing multi-site manufacturing operations.
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards, EPA environmental regulations, and applicable state/local codes.
  • Hands‑on understanding of manufacturing hazards associated with polymer concrete molding, overhead cranes, material handling, and chemical processing.
  • Professional EHS certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional - CSP, Associate Safety Professional - ASP, Certified Industrial Hygienist - CIH) are highly desirable.
  • Proven success in designing and implementing multi‑site safety programs that measurably reduce incident rates and foster employee engagement.
  • Strong expertise in root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) and continuous improvement principles (Lean, 5S).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, training, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams at all organizational levels.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and decisive, with the ability to handle crisis situations calmly and balance competing priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS management software/reporting platforms.
