Job summary

Nappr is seeking a Center Coordinator to ensure compliance with EHS/Head Start standards and related regulations. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the NAPPR EHS Child Care Center and coordinate across all content areas and program functions.

You will lead quality initiatives, supervise staff, and support the EHS Director in all aspects of management, with a focus on family engagement and safe, healthy environments. The role requires collaboration with families and community partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public health or other health/early childhood education/ or applicable field is required.
  • 1+ years' experience in Early Head Start/Head Start or other childcare/child development program.
  • 1+ years' experience establishing/maintaining relationships with parents, families and community resources.
  • Experience with culturally appropriate services and Reflective Practices is highly desirable.
  • Preference for current or former Early Head Start/Head Start parents.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, implementation, review and revision of service area plans, policies and activities.
  • Plan and participate in quality measurements, needs assessments, self-assessments, monitoring, and program changes.
  • Enter, track and analyze data for reporting, quality control, and planning.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Ensure compliance with all Early Head Start/ Head Start (EHS/HS) Performance Standards, applicable accreditation standards and other applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they pertain to the Health, Nutrition Safe Environments service areas of NAPPR's Early Head Start program. Provide position associated support, training, and guidance to all Early Head Start staff and families. Oversee day to day operations of NAPPR EHS Child Care Center as the Center Coordinator. Assure coordination and collaboration across all Early Head Start content areas and program functions. Serves as a member of the Early Head Start Management Team, leading and participating in program initiatives, providing back up supervision and direction to staff as needed in the absence of their direct supervisor and assists the EHS Director as needed in all aspects of EHS Management. All NAPPR employees are expected to demonstrate integrity and focus on NAPPR's mission throughout all aspects of their work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinator
  1. Lead the development, implementation, review and revision of designated service area plans, policies, procedures, strategies, and activities.
  2. Plan, conduct and actively participate in internal and external quality measurement, community needs assessment, self-assessment, and monitoring, assisting with the determination of responses and programmatic changes/revisions in response to findings for designated service area(s)
  3. Enter, track, analyze and use individualized and aggregate data for reporting, quality control/improvement and planning for designated service area(s)
  4. Assist the EHS Director in recruiting, training, and maintaining active membership in the Parent Committee and Policy Council, attending, and participating in Parent Committee and Policy Council meetings as appropriate
  5. Participate in organizational outreach activities as appropriate.
Health
  1. Lead the development, implementation of strategies to enhance family participation in addressing their children's health, nutrition, and safety needs, as well as supporting EHS staff in their engagement with families.
  2. Ensure accurate utilization of screening results to identify physical and oral requirements, as well as overseeing the timely completion and organization of necessary documentation for screenings and referrals, while keeping relevant staff informed of any arising issues.
  3. Provide training and individual support for staff and families concerning health, nutrition, and safe environments for children and families.
Nutrition
  1. Coordinate and conduct all Child & Adult Care Food Program activities at the NAPPR EHS Child Care Center to ensure compliance with all Head Start and CACFP regulations.
Safety/center
  1. Coordinating and scheduling all necessary safety and building inspections at the EHS Child Care Center, collaborating with EHS Cook for the upkeep and repairs of the building in coordination with contractors, organizing and maintaining relevant documentation for maintenance and repairs, and monitoring the quality and completion of maintenance tasks at the childcare center.
  2. Responsible for day-to-day operations of the NAPPR EHS Child Care Center ensuring compliance with city, state and federal agencies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise 6 full time teachers, 3 part time teachers, and 1 center cook

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Requirements
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in public health or other health/ early childhood education/ or applicable field
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 years' experience in Early Head Start/Head Start or other childcare/child development program.
  • A minimum of 1 years' experience establishing/maintaining successful relationships with a variety of individuals including parents, family members and community resources in a work environment.
  • Experience with providing culturally appropriate services and experience and/or knowledge of Reflective Practices, best practices, child development, children's medical and developmental needs, family environmental risk factors and community resources for family support is highly desirable.
  • Current and former Early Head Start and Head Start parents must receive preference for employment vacancies for which they are qualified.
SPECIALIZED OR UNIQUE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES:
  • Ability to direct
  • Computer experience, knowledge of or demonstrated ability to learn Child Plus, Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and web applications.
  • Attention to detail with ability to accurately handle large volume of administrative work.
  • Ability to take appropriate action in an emergency or other atypical situation considering child/family/personal safety, documentation requirements, involving authorities and reporting the incident to supervisor.
  • Ability to cope with stress and manage multiple priorities.

  • Typical work environment situations include lifting, bending, twisting, temperature changes, occasionally lifting to 25 lbs., utilizing office equipment daily.
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily inside, in temperature-controlled conditions. Some noise and interruptions are present. May also include employee vehicles and outside locations with dust, wind, temperature changes and precipitation.
SPECIAL WORKING REQUIRMENTS:
  • A functional automobile at his/her disposal; a valid, non-suspended NM driver's license and a current automobile liability policy with continuous coverage
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • No substantiation or criminal conviction of child abuse or neglect
  • No conviction of DUI or other moving violations in the past 3 years which will prevent insurability under NAPPR's liability coverage.
  • May require flexible schedules, including occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Travel within the state and out-of-state may be required.
