Job summary

Space Florida is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to integrate EHS programs across the organization. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, permitting, and coordination with federal and state regulators to ensure a safe, compliant, and sustainable work environment for Space Florida employees and projects.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering, OSHA 30 Hour certification, and HAZWOPER certification, with 2–7 years of EHS experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering required.
• OSHA 30 Hour training for General Industry and Construction.
• 24- or 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required.

Responsibilities

• Manage, support, and enforce the Space Florida EHS program.
• Support all Space Florida departments in EHS compliance and communicate regulations.
• Assist with permitting and regulatory documentation and corrective action plans.
• Provide regulatory information for environmental media and support compliance.
• Ensure OSHA safety compliance for projects, facilities and personnel.
• Serve as SME for environmental regulations and coordinate with agencies.
• Advise customers, project managers, tenants and contractors on EHS matters.
• Maintain permits, inspection reports and EHS records.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering

OSHA 30 Hour training

HAZWOPER certification (24- or 40-hour)
