  • It’s the people. Our team is our competitive advantage and we are better together.
Your Mission

True Anomaly is looking for a talented and driven Environmental Engineer to join our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team in Long Beach, CA. In this role, you will be a key contributor to our mission by ensuring environmental compliance across our spacecraft manufacturing operations. You'll bring both technical depth and a hands‑on approach to building and sustaining compliant, efficient, and safe manufacturing environments. If you thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑accountability setting and are passionate about environmental stewardship, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve environmental compliance programs at our Long Beach facility
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable local, state (California), and federal environmental regulations
  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate new and proposed environmental legislation, advising leadership on potential impacts and required actions
  • Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections to verify regulatory compliance
  • Manage compliance calendars, recordkeeping systems, and environmental tracking tools
  • Develop, maintain, and update site operational plans including the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plan
  • Oversee air quality compliance, including recordkeeping and reporting for permitted emission sources under applicable Air Quality Management District requirements
  • Maintain and update the site Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) and submit required regulatory documentation
  • Manage the site's industrial wastewater discharge permit, including ongoing compliance, updates, and regulatory submittals to the Los Angeles County Sanitation District
  • Lead hazardous waste management activities, including proper identification, handling, storage, manifesting, and regulatory reporting in accordance with DTSC and EPA requirements
  • Coordinate environmental contractors for permitting, sampling, and testing activities; review and maintain associated reports and records
  • Collaborate with the broader EHS team on day‑to‑day site compliance needs
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to review new equipment, facility changes, and manufacturing processes for environmental and permitting implications
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of professional experience in environmental and regulatory compliance program development and execution
  • Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 6+ years of environmental compliance experience in a dynamic manufacturing setting
  • Solid working knowledge of California environmental regulations and regulatory agencies
  • Experience developing and maintaining air emissions permits under South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) jurisdiction
  • Familiarity with industrial wastewater permitting through the Los Angeles County Sanitation District
  • Hands‑on experience developing and maintaining SWPPPs and Best Management Practices (BMPs) for stormwater compliance in California
  • Working knowledge of the following agencies: SCAQMD, LA County Sanitation District, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA), Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
  • Experience managing hazardous waste programs, including generator requirements, manifesting, waste characterization, and annual reporting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high‑pressure environment
  • Self‑starter with a track record of driving continuous improvement and working collaboratively across technical teams.
Compensation
  • Base Salary: $95,000‑$135,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave
