Job summary

ERM is seeking a Consultant, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to join our team in Hartford, CT or Boston, MA. You will support environmental compliance, sustainability, and health & safety projects across industries, with hands-on experience in regulatory programs and risk assessments.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s or master’s degree and 2–3+ years in EHS, regulatory compliance, or sustainability, plus strong project management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, environmental science, safety, business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2–3+ years of EHS, regulatory compliance, or sustainability experience (industry or consulting)
• Experience implementing or maintaining EHS management systems
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations
• Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and data tracking tools
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Driver's License Required: valid license and ability to travel to client locations
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Local candidates preferred

Responsibilities

• Support development, implementation, and improvement of EHS management systems
• Conduct EHS compliance audits and manage corrective actions
• Perform risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses
• Provide onsite EHS compliance support at client facilities
• Develop and implement environmental programs (air, waste, stormwater, wastewater, spill prevention)
• Lead or support industrial hygiene and exposure assessments
• Translate regulatory requirements into practical, scalable solutions
• Manage multiple projects to meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations
• Collaborate with ERM’s global technical network to solve complex challenges
• Build and maintain strong client relationships that support repeat business
• Contribute to growth of ERM’s EHS and Sustainable Operations practice
• Develop innovative solutions for complex EHS challenges and regulatory issues
• Design and direct corporate H&S strategies across diverse industries
• Manage projects to meet scope, budget, and schedule while exceeding client expectations
• Develop and deliver training
• Participate in EHS audits
• Build and nurture client relationships to drive repeat business and expand ERM’s market presence
