Job Title: Center Assistant Two

Supervisory Responsibility: Reports to Family & Center Specialist or EHS Lead Admin Teacher

Job Summary:

In a one classroom setting, the Center Assistant Two is responsible for promoting school readiness by providing relational learning and enhancing the social and cognitive development of children in Early Childhood Centers. This role includes supporting day-to-day classroom operations, assisting in meal planning and food service, ensuring a safe and healthy environment, and building strong partnerships with families and staff while adhering to all state, federal, and programmatic standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Teamwithstafftorecruiteligiblechildrenandparticipateinorientationforeachnewlyenrolledchild. SubstituteinHeadStart(HS)/EarlyHeadStart(EHS)classroomsasneededandcollaboratewithstaff to provide a developmentally appropriate classroom environment using Creative Curriculum and relatedframeworks.

Use Conscious Discipline methods for behavior management and follow program protocols to guide behaviors.

Assist in completing child screenings and developmental assessments.

Education and Experience:

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs. or less.

Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and repetitive motions.

Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Requires moderate driving for travel between locations. Uses a vehicle, facing potential traffic and weather risks.

Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases.

Travel Requirements:

Travel within the county or counties to meet with clients, community partners, and attend all-staff meetings as required.

Licensing and Other Requirements:

Valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance is required. Must be 18 years of age orolder.

Ability to meet the State of Michigan and federal background check requirements, as well as physical and TB examinationrequirements.

Work Hours:

Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm.

ProvideasafeclassroomenvironmentfollowingMichiganLicensingRules,programperformance standards, and safetyprotocols.

Implement active supervision practices to ensure children's safety and ensure children are only released to authorized adults.

Maintain cleanliness of the center and report incidents, injuries, or other occurrences as needed. Help develop and implement emergency procedures and safety protocols, including for health and food allergies.

Create nutritious menus following guidelines, ensuring food safety and allergy accommodations. Prepare and serve meals, following the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Child and Adult Care Food Program (USDA/CACFP) regulations and record food temperatures.

Support children during mealtimes and engage inconversations.

Maintain communication with parents through written updates asrequired.

Encourage family involvement in their child’s education and assist teachers in building partnerships with families.

Ensure individualization of services for children with disabilities based on Individualized Family Service Plans/Individualized Education Programs (IFSP/IEP) goals.

Attend required training, maintain certifications, and engage in professional development opportunities.

Perform basic math, document expenditures, and manage food budget and supply inventory. Complete in-kind documentation and adhere to timelines for all required reports.

Utilize payroll systems to meet employment requirements and maintain work schedule flexibility. Notify the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) within 3 business days of any applicable convictions.
