Job summary

British American Household Staffing is helping a Brooklyn family hire a nanny/family assistant for two children, ages 5 and 3. It is a live-out role with Monday–Friday, 11am–8pm, minimum 45 hours per week, starting September 1.

The position requires warm, energetic, self-motivated care, healthy meals, school pick-ups, homework support, after-school activities, light housekeeping, and reliable transportation. Spanish speaking ideal; US work eligibility required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with preschoolers and early elementary age.
• Flexibility and longevity with a family.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Comfortable with mass transit.
• Ability to drive kids using family car.
• Comfortable e-biking with kids riding on back of bike.

Responsibilities

• Care for two children aged 5 and 3, including meals, homework help, and activity planning.
• Collecting children from school and supporting with lessons to reinforce learning.
• Take children to after-school activities and clubs.
• Foster development through new ideas and positive reinforcement.
• Assist with light housekeeping and family organization.
• Coordinate with family for trips and errands, including dry cleaning and groceries.
• Model good behavior and manners.

Job description

Overview

A kind and caring family of four based in Brooklyn is seeking a nanny/family assistant to help care for their two young children aged 5 and 3-years. This is a live-out position and the schedule will be Monday through Friday with a minimum of 45-hours per week, 11am-8pm, (with potential of additional hours if required).

This is a no screen time household, so the candidate must be creative and encourage physical and artistic/messy activities.

The ideal candidate will be loving, energetic, and a self-starter.

The position is tostart September 1st.

Responsibilities

All responsibilities related to childcare -

• Prepare healthy and nutritious meals for the children, and encourage them to try new foods, (occasionally preparing the parents meals would be a plus)
• Collecting the children from school and helping with homework or preparing lessons to ensure the children are absorbing what they are learning in school
• Taking the children to after school activities and clubs
• Ensure the children are reaching their developmental milestones; pro-activelybringing new ideas to the table to foster development and growth
• Offer positive reinforcement to help build resiliency
• Assist children with homework and new learning activities
• Encourage the children to tidy up after themselvesand do their chores
• Model good behaviour and manners

Family Assistant

• Organizing the household
• Keep on top of the finer details/light housekeeping
• Ensure the fridge, cupboards and laundry room are stocked
• Assisting with packing for family trips
• Help with online ordersTake/pick up garments to the dry cleaners
• Keep in touch with the children's school and afterschool clubs and activities to ensure no detail is missed

Qualifications

• Open to travelling with the family but not a requirement
• Spanish speaking would ideal

Salary and Benefits

• $40 per hour
• 10 days PTO- ideally used late august or between Christmas/New Years
• 5 sick days
