EH&S MANAGER – North America (multi-location)

Dairy Ingredient Manufacturer


Based: Oneonta, NY (On-site)


Our client is a growing, global specialty dairy ingredient manufacturer based in the greater Albany, NY area. Relocation is available.


They are seeking a strategic, hands-on EH&S Manager to lead Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives across 4 locations in North America. In this highly visible leadership role, you will translate the company’s global SHE framework into practical, compliant, high-impact programs that strengthen our safety culture, ensure regulatory excellence, and proactively protect our people, communities, operations, and reputation.


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced EH&S professional who understands complex manufacturing environments, can influence across multiple sites, and is passionate about building a proactive, accountable safety culture.


As the North American EH&S Manager, you will be responsible for leading and continuously improving Environmental, Health & Safety performance across manufacturing and office locations in Florida, New Jersey, New York, and Wisconsin.


You will play a key role in protecting the company’s License to Operate by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while aligning local site execution with global safety, health, and environmental standards.


This role requires a strong balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with senior leadership, plant teams, frontline employees, regulatory agencies, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical, understandable actions that drive measurable results.



Key Responsibilities

The EH&S Manager will lead, manage, and support programs related to safety, health, environmental compliance, and risk reduction across North American operations.


Responsibilities include:



  • Translate global EH&S strategy into actionable, U.S.-compliant programs across multiple sites.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations across facilities in FL, NJ, NY, and WI.

  • Protect the company’s License to Operate across manufacturing and office locations.

  • Lead site-wide hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation programs.

  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, health, and environmental performance.

  • Lead OSHA compliance initiatives, injury reporting, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work programs.

  • Manage environmental compliance programs, including wastewater, air emissions, Clean Air Act requirements, chemicals, and solid waste.

  • Support GMP-aligned safety programs within food and ingredient manufacturing environments.

  • Lead regulatory inspections, audits, notices of violation, corrective actions, and agency communications.

  • Develop annual EH&S goals, budgets, performance targets, and improvement plans.

  • Provide data-driven reporting to senior leadership on trends, risks, incidents, and improvement initiatives.

  • Coach plant leadership, supervisors, frontline teams, and local EH&S resources on risk mitigation and regulatory expectations.

  • Lead EH&S committees, training governance, and employee engagement initiatives.

  • Embed and reinforce a safety culture grounded in the company’s “I AM SAFE” philosophy.

  • Support and develop local EH&S and operational resources to strengthen accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.


The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, influential EH&S leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a multi-site manufacturing environment.



Education & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field required.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • 7+ years of progressive EH&S leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in dairy, food, ingredients, or pharmaceutical manufacturing is strongly preferred.

  • Proven experience leading regulatory inspections and working directly with external regulatory agencies.



Technical Expertise

Qualified candidates should bring deep working knowledge of:



  • OSHA regulations and compliance

  • GMP manufacturing environments

  • Filtration, drying, and evaporating unit operations

  • Wastewater and environmental compliance

  • Clean Air Act requirements

  • Chemical management
