Job summary

Carboline in Lake Charles, LA invites driven students to join a 12-week EH&S internship (May 17, 2027 – August 6, 2027). As an EH&S Intern you will conduct audits, support training, maintain safety equipment, and collaborate with teams across the facility to improve workplace health and safety.

This hands-on program emphasizes safety culture, cross-functional exposure, mentorship from leaders, and real-world projects that complement classroom knowledge while you gain manufacturing experience.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Industrial Safety or related field.
• Available 30-40 hours per week May–August.
• Experience or interest in manufacturing, industrial safety or industrial hygiene is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn and proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety audits, walkthroughs and reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with safety training sessions scheduling and delivery.
• Interact with team leaders and employees to promote safety and health awareness.
• Stock and maintain PPE and first aid equipment to ensure readiness and compliance.
• Track and organize safety training records and databases for accuracy.
• Support incident investigations and contribute to corrective action plans.
• Participate in Employee Safety Advocate meetings to foster a culture of safety.
• Assist in development and revision of safety policies and procedures.
• Champion Carboline's commitment to safety and quality by following policies.

As an EH&S Intern, you’ll be an active contributor to our safety culture-conducting audits, supporting training programs, maintaining critical safety equipment, and engaging directly with teams across the facility. • Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
• Preferred: completed 30 credit hours.
• Experience or interest in manufacturing, industrial safety, or industrial hygiene is a plus.
• Available to work 30-40 hours per week from May through August.
• Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

• Expect light physical activity and extended computer use (up to 8 hours/day).
• Occasional visits to the production floor will require proper footwear and PPE.
• Must be able to lift/move up to 15 pounds as needed.
• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; noise level is typically moderate.
