Job summary

The Arizona Department of Agriculture is seeking a part-time Public Health Sanitarian (Egg Inspector) for the Egg Inspection Program. The duty post is Hickman Egg Ranch in the Arlington/Tonopah area, with a 3/4 time schedule.

You will perform sanitation inspections of USDA shell egg plants and related facilities, ensuring compliance with laws and USDA standards. No prior egg grading experience is required as training will be provided; candidates must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and rotate

Qualifications

• Inspect sites and enforce statutes.
• Lift up to sixty pounds on a regular basis.
• Test egg and egg products by collecting samples, candles eggs for quality, grade, weight and color.
• Check cooler temperatures and labeling of eggs and egg products, and retains product not meeting USDA standards.
• Rotate between Arlington and Tonopah processing facilities; overtime may be required.
• Must possess USDA license or be able to obtain; training provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect sites and enforce statutes.
• Perform substantial sanitation inspections of commercial processing plants.
• Prepare USDA certificates and maintain USDA files.
• Communicate with plant officials and observe ongoing operations.
• Rotate between Arlington and Tonopah facilities; flexible schedules.
