Job summary

Coastal Family Health Center in Astoria, OR seeks an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) for a 1.0 FTE role. The position uses the EPIC EMR and offers specialized duties to support providers and expand access to care.

Qualified candidates will have EFDA certification within 90 days, BLS within 90 days, and be bilingual. A generous bonus structure and comprehensive benefits accompany 40-hour weeks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• EFDA certification within 90 days of employment.
• Registration as a Surgical Technologist if assisting a Dentist in OR.
• Bilingual ALTA score 10 preferred; English/Spanish bilingual is valued.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred at level 10.
• Basic knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, materials, and instruments.
• Knowledge of infection control techniques and oral health instruction.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient medical records and vital signs.
• Conduct complete X-ray procedures and store images in EPIC EDR.
• Set up and record periodontal charting per provider instructions.
• Prepare and set up instruments for exams.
• Mix materials with attention to infection control and cross-contamination.
• Perform preventative periodontal care (polish, fluoride, sealants).
• Educate patients on oral hygiene in clinic and Mobile Unit programs.
• Assist in infection control program and sterilization processes.
• Assist in orthodontics as needed including records and ligature ties.
• Perform duties aligned with JCAHO/HRSA/YVFWC requirements.
