Job description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The EEO/AA Investigator conducts investigation of allegations of discrimination and harassment.
  • Reviews relevant documents, interviews witnesses, and gathers evidence to determine whether there is reasonable cause to believe that NJ TRANSIT’s non-discrimination policy has been violated.
  • Drafts a summary of the investigation or a Report of Findings (ROF) at the conclusion of the investigation for review and edits from the Chief, Office of EEO/AA, and the Senior. Director of Investigations.
  • Responds to inquiries and consults with employees on equal opportunity requirements and NJ TRANSIT’s non-discrimination policy.
  • Maintains all Office of EEO/AA complaint and case tracking logs and record management systems.
  • Manages the Office of EEO/AA case management tracking system.
  • Provides case management support and technical assistance in employment litigation cases.
  • Conducts intake interviews and drafts investigation plans, including witnesses to interview and documents to obtain; conducts interviews of parties and witnesses and summarizes relevant information; gathers and evaluates documents and other physical evidence from the parties and summarizes relevant information; conducts fact-finding conferences and site visits as necessary for investigative purposes, and summarizes relevant information.
  • Coordinates investigations with other departments, including but not limited to Ethics, Employee Relations, and Labor Relations.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Education, Experience, & Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, or closely related field, from a US Department of Education accredited college or university and 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

  • Masters degree or higher degree is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge and skill in fact-finding, analysis, problem solving, case management, interpretation of regulations and policies, dealing effectively with people required.
  • Ability to analogize and distinguish policy, rules, and regulations. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook programs required.

Preferred:

  • Paralegal experience is a plus.
