Job summary

Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services is seeking an EEG Technician for the Rheumatology/Neurology Clinic. The role involves preparing patients and performing EEGs and Ambulatory EEGs, BAERs, and VEP within scope of practice, with documentation in the Hospital EMR.

  • Prepares patient and performs Electroencephalograms, Ambulatory EEGs, BAERs, VEP and other tests within your scope of practice.
  • Edit and prepare test for reading by a Physician.
  • Reports findings or concerns to reading physician for prompt interpretation.
  • Demonstrates compassionate, courteous, and privacy-respecting customer service.

  • Performs other duties as directed by physician or office manager.
  • Works 8 hour shifts unless arranged otherwise with the Director.

General Summary

The EEG Tech functions as a resource person to physicians and their staff, family members and hospital staff. Prepare patients and performs Electroencephalograms, Ambulatory EEGs, and other tests within their scope of practice.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities

  • Functions as a resource person to physicians and their staff, family members and hospital staff
  • Prepares patient and performs Electroencephalograms, Ambulatory EEGs, BAERs, VEP and other tests within your scope of practice
  • Edit and prepare test for reading by a Physician
  • Reports findings or concerns to reading physician for prompt interpretation
  • Employee will demonstrate customer service in all interaction, that is compassionate, courteous, friendly, non-judgmental and demonstrate a respect for privacy
  • Cleans and maintains equipment (EEG machine and accessories)
  • Uses Hospital EMR for documentation
  • Use specific protocol for patient wires including taking them off and proper cleaning and storage
  • Some office responsibilities such as scheduling, filing, computer and telephone skills
  • Performs other duties as directed by physician or office manager.
  • Will work 8 hour shifts unless other arrangements are made with the Director
Physical Requirements

  • Requires sitting for long periods; also stooping, bending, and stretch for files and supplies. Occasionally lifts files or paper weighing up to 20 to 30 pounds.
  • Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type at 40 wpm minimal, operate a calculator, telephone, copier, and such other office equipment as necessary.
  • Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts.
  • It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful.
  • Auditory acuity to hear others for purposed of fluent communication.
  • Physical strength to perform the following lifting demands:
  • Floor to Knuckle- 20lbs
  • 12 to Knuckle- 30lbs
  • Knuckle to Shoulder- 20lbs
  • Shoulder to Overhead- 10lbs
  • Carry 14ft- 30lbs
