Job summary

SEGULA Technologies is seeking an experienced Electrical Infotainment Value Optimization Engineer to drive cost and value optimization initiatives for automotive infotainment and connected electronic systems. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Automotive Engineering.
  • 5+ years automotive engineering experience in infotainment or value/cost engineering.
  • Strong VA/VE, Design-to-Cost, or cost optimization knowledge.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, BOMs, and component specs.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead VA/VE initiatives across infotainment and electrical systems.
  • Analyze head units, displays, amplifiers, and connectivity modules for cost and design improvement.
  • Conduct teardowns and benchmarking to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Develop cost-reduction strategies through design simplification and standardization.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Suppliers.
  • Build business cases with cost savings, investments, timing, and risks.
  • Track projects from concept through validation to implementation and report status to leadership.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Infotainment Value Optimization Engineer to drive cost and value optimization initiatives for automotive infotainment and connected electronic systems. In this role, you will focus on identifying high-impact cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining product performance, quality, reliability, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead VA/VE Initiatives: Drive Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) activities across automotive infotainment and electrical/electronic systems.
  • System & Hardware Analysis: Perform technical and cost analysis of Head Units, displays/touchscreens, amplifiers, audio systems, connectivity modules (USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi), ECUs, and associated components.
  • Benchmarking & Teardowns: Conduct competitive teardowns and benchmarking to identify design, material, and manufacturing optimization opportunities.
  • Cost & BOM Optimization: Analyze BOMs, component specs, and manufacturing processes to develop cost-reduction strategies via design simplification, component standardization, and alternative technologies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, Cost Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Suppliers to evaluate and implement changes.
  • Risk & Impact Assessment: Evaluate proposed modifications for impacts on functionality, performance, validation, warranty, and manufacturability.
  • Business Case Development: Build compelling business cases by estimating cost savings, investment requirements, implementation timing, and technical risks.
  • Project Tracking & Delivery: Track optimization initiatives from concept through validation to implementation, presenting recommendations and status updates to leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of automotive engineering experience, specifically focused on infotainment, electrical/electronic systems, or value/cost engineering.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of automotive infotainment architecture, ECUs, displays, connectivity, audio, and electronic hardware.
  • Core Skills: Proven experience with VA/VE, Design-to-Cost, or Product Cost Optimization, along with the ability to interpret electrical schematics, component specifications, and BOMs.
  • Process Mastery: Solid grasp of automotive product development cycles and engineering change management processes.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional leadership capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with hardware teardowns and competitive benchmarking.
  • Deep knowledge of electronic component and PCB cost drivers.
  • Experience working directly with automotive OEMs and Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R, change management, and validation procedures.
  • Demonstrated history of developing and presenting cost-saving business cases to executive leadership.
