Job summary

Huntington National Bank is seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to lead the architectural design and development of Enterprise Data Warehouse applications, ensuring they meet business needs, performance standards, and security requirements.

You will collaborate with tech leads, enterprise solution architects and business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into architectural solutions, create documentation, and mentor delivery teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in application architecture, design, and development of data engineering pipelines in banking/finance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural design and development of Enterprise Data Warehouse applications, ensuring they meet business needs, performance standards, and security requirements.
  • Collaborate with tech leads, Enterprise Solution architects and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into architectural solutions.
  • Create and maintain architectural documentation, including system diagrams, technical specifications, and design patterns.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, assisting in code reviews and troubleshooting.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and apply knowledge to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance data applications.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise architects to ensure alignment with the overall strategy and standards.
  • Participate in cross-functional discussions to identify opportunities for process optimization and system integration.

Description

Provides technical and consultative support on the most complex technical matters. Analyzes, designs, and develops systems based upon user specifications. Provides technical assistance in solving hardware or software problems. Possesses an in-depth knowledge of and works with the technical tools available for systems development and support. Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of technical industry trends, particularly as they apply to Huntington. May assist with identifying training needs or with training of less experienced staff. May serve as project leader for specific projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the architectural design and development of Enterprise Data Warehouse applications, ensuring they meet business needs, performance standards, and security requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with tech leads, Enterprise Solution architects and business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements and translate them into comprehensive architectural solutions.

  • Create and maintain architectural documentation, including system diagrams, technical specifications, and design patterns.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, assisting in code reviews, troubleshooting, and addressing technical challenges.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

  • Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and technologies that enhance the efficiency and scalability of our data applications.

  • Collaborate with Enterprise architects to ensure alignment with the overall technology strategy and standards.

  • Participate in cross-functional discussions to identify opportunities for process optimization, system integration, and improved user experiences.

  • Be accountable for the creation and evolution of the overall application architecture strategy, its alignment with the Huntington Target State Enterprise Architecture and its usage patterns within the development community.

  • May mentor technical delivery staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in application architecture, design, and development of data engineering pipelines within the commercial banking or financial services domain.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in application architecture, design and development within the commercial banking or financial services domain.

  • Proficiency in software architecture patterns, data warehousing and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Snowflake).

  • Strong knowledge of security practices, data protection and compliance standards relevant to the banking industry.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time.

  • Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, handle multiple priorities and effectively prioritize them.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels and explain technical concepts clearly and concisely to multiple layers of peers and leadership.

  • Exempt Status: (Yes = not eligible for overtime pay) (No = eligible for overtime pay)
