The Clinical Nurse Educator supports developing the direct-care nurse and advancing evidence-based practice through competency assessment, continuing education, leadership development, and collaboration

Qualifications

  • Three years of acute care experience in critical care (ICU) nursing with leadership experience.
  • Current and active Registered Nurse license for CA.
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses educational needs in collaboration with management and staff to align with department priorities and quality goals.
  • Annually conducts educational needs assessments and presents findings to leadership for approval.
  • Evaluates educational projects based on system needs and outcomes, communicating progress to leadership.
  • Collaborates with market leaders to ensure implementation of critical care/ED safety initiatives and patient safety projects.
  • Reports status on safety initiatives to chiefs, directors, patient safety, and risk management leaders.
  • Reviews data to ensure compliance with safety initiatives, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
  • Supports rollout of safety projects and goals, including training development and delivery.
  • Develops and facilitates learning opportunities and drills (e.g., Mock Codes, disaster preparedness, simulations).

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Educator in Critical Care Emergency, In accordance with our mission and core values of integrity, compassion, collaboration, and excellence, this position is established to serve as a consultant/resource professional by providing staff development expertise as an educator, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher, ensuring all educational initiatives are strategically aligned with the Critical Care/Emergency Services operational goals and facility leadership priorities.

The Critical Care/Emergency Services Educator supports the development of the direct-care nurse and fosters nursing excellence through new knowledge and the delivery of evidence based practice. Facilitation of the educational process includes assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development, in close collaboration with the Critical Care/Emergency Services Leadership Team.

The Clinical Nurse Educator also serves as a role model forprofessional behavior. Teamwork is a vital component of patient care; therefore, incumbents will be expected to demonstrate their commitment through effective collaborative efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses educational needs through various formal and informal methods, in close consultation with the Critical Care/Emergency Services Management teams and staff, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and challenges. Conducts evaluations of all projects and initiatives for desired outcomes, sharing findings and proposing revisions to the Critical Care/Emergency Services facility leadership teams. Revises future work goals, methods and processes to support evidence-based practice and quality care in collaboration with market leadership. Ensures educational activities are congruent with nursing strategies, goals, values and vision and are tailored to meet the specific needs and operational mandates of the critical care/emergency services departments and facility and market leader.
  • Annually conducts educational needs assessment using a variety of methods, presenting findings and proposed educational plans to Critical Care/Emergency Services leadership team for feedback and approval.
  • Evaluates educational projects based on system needs and agreed upon outcome criteria. Regularly communicates progress and outcomes to the Emergency Services leadership team and reports broader outcomes to the Market Chief Nurses.
  • Collaborate with the market leaders of Emergency Services to ensure 100% implementation of all Critical Care/ED safety initiatives, and other identified patient safety projects.
  • Report timely status on Critical Care/ED safety initiatives to the Chief nurses, Directors of Critical Care/Emergency Services, Patient Safety, and Clinical Risk Management leadership.
  • Review data and processes to evaluate compliance with Critical Care/ED safety initiatives, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
  • Support the market in the roll-out of Critical Care/ED safety projects and goals, reporting results and providing necessary training.
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate learning opportunities and drills for the Critical Care/ED, including topics such as Mock Codes, disaster preparedness, and critical incident simulations.
