Job summary

Cross Country Education is seeking a Sign Language Interpreter in Tacoma, WA to provide essential communication access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. You will interpret classroom instruction, meetings, testing, assemblies, field trips, and activities across school settings while adapting to each student’s needs.

Prepare for lessons by reviewing materials and vocabulary, and collaborate with educators to promote meaningful participation throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree with EIPA score 3.5+ or a Bachelor’s degree with EIPA score 4.0+.
• National Interpreting Certification may be accepted.
• Experience in educational settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret between Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and teachers and staff in classrooms and school settings.
• Interpret classroom instruction, meetings, testing, assemblies, field trips, and activities, adapting communication to each student’s needs.
• Prepare for lessons by reviewing materials and building subject-specific vocabulary.
• Collaborate with educators to promote effective communication and student participation.
