University of Michigan Medicine is seeking anEducational Nurse Coordinator for the University Hospital PACU in Ann Arbor. Responsibilities*

Identify and access the needs of the PACU staff for orientation and in-service programs with the support of the OR/PACU CNS.
Investigate, design, and implement competency-based orientation/evaluation with the support of the OR/PACU CNS.
Coordinate, collaborate, with and support Unit Based Committee in-service and staff development programs.
Evaluate and modify orientation based on clinical outcomes and cost effectiveness.
Coordinate and monitor PACU staff regarding mandatory hospital competencies and mandatory in-service attendance.
Provide consultation in the area of clinical expertise to PACU staff
Assist in the development and acquisition of unit resource materials.
Promote attendance at continuing education programs and involvement in professional organization (ASPAN AACN) activities by unit staff.
Provide patient care to maintain clinical competence, act as a role model, and assist in monitoring unit practices.
Assist in the maintenance of nursing practice standards.
Participate in the development of procedures, protocols and guidelines for the PACU.
Provide consultation and clinical expertise to other departmental PACU settings and procedure areas.
Provide and coordinate continued educational (CE) opportunities to PACU staff including annual nursing Blitz.
Promote use of and embed evidence based practice, involving nursing sensitive indicators.
Provide consultation to other institutional committees (e.g. EDU,C4).
Develop and coordinate off-shift clinical resources (e.g. DVD in-service, educational posters, instruction manuals, website postings).
Educate, support and mentor off-shift clinical experts
Encourage and coordinate abstract and poster creation for UHMS and national organizations.
Facilitate support of embedded clinical experts and support off shift staff.

Required Qualifications*

Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent education and experience.
Three or more years of recent clinical experience in Pre-Op, Phase I, and Phase II within the past five years.
Two or more years of recent experience as a preceptor and/or charge nurse.
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Desired Qualifications*

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
Experience in teaching, development of learning objectives, and program planning.
CPAN, CAPA or specialty nursing certification.
Active membership in a professional nursing specialty organization at the local, state, or national level.
Experience with professional presentations and/or publications related to the care of surgical patients.
Proficiency with technology and software, including SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Canva, and similar applications.
Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice.
Demonstrated ability to educate, coach, and support the professional development of nursing staff.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with staff, leadership, patients, and families.
Highly motivated, innovative, and forward-thinking, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the UH PACU team.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework RSAM Competent.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework RSAM levels range from Level Competent to Expert.
