Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking an Educational Counselor to provide academic and vocational guidance in a secure institutional setting. You will administer tests, support class enrollment, and guide inmates toward personal and educational development.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Education (Master's preferred) and at least three years of relevant experience, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Collect, organize and analyze information about individuals to appraise interests and abilities.
• Evaluate inmates/students to assist with vocational and academic planning.
• Counsel inmates/students to define goals and plan a program of study.
• Administer TABE and evaluate results to determine enrollment in appropriate classes.
• Maintain enrollment and assist in department activities.
• Ensure progress reports and required documentation are up to date.

Responsibilities

• Collect, organize and analyze information about individuals through records, tests, interviews and professional sources, to appraise their interest, aptitudes, abilities and personality characteristics.
• Evaluate inmates/students to assist with vocational, and academic post-release planning, and to ensure enrollment in appropriate classes.
• Counsel inmates/students to assist them in defining goals, and planning and documenting a program of study reflecting their interests, abilities and needs.
• Administer Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) and evaluate test results to determine student enrollment in appropriate classes. Assess the accomplishments of inmates/students and maintains progress reports as required.
