Job summary

Oregon Trail School District #46 is seeking an Educational Assistant at Boring Middle School. This 1.0 FTE position runs 8 hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Position: Educational Assistant / 1.0 FTE / 8 hours per day Monday - Friday / 7:00am to 3:30pm (includes 30 minute unpaid lunch break)

Primary Purpose:

The purpose of the Educational Assistant is to provide instructional support services to students under the direction of the teacher or an administrator.

Qualifications/Requirement:

  • High School diploma or its recognized equivalent; and
  • Two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
  • Associate's (or higher) degree at institution of higher education; or
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness and mathematics readiness) through a formal district approved academic assessment.

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • General knowledge and skills in mathematics, English and writing equivalent to two years of college.
  • The ability to assist in instructing students in reading, writing and math.
  • Ability to appropriately respond to and direct students in one-to-one or small group situations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding students, staff, and family.
  • Limited knowledge of office practices and procedures, including telephone proficiency.
  • Knowledge of computer operations, software, and equipment.
  • Ability to type with moderate speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to solve problems and comply with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with the supervisor, fellow employees, staff and students.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions with supervision.
  • Ability and initiative to become familiar with and apply school rules and regulations.
  • Ability to accommodate individual circumstances.

Experience:

  • One-year experience working with children in a classroom setting desired.
  • Criminal history fingerprint clearance required.

Student Management

Supervise students while in or outside of the classroom setting, such as the playground, cafeteria, hallway, restroom, and while waiting for transportation services.

Salary/Benefits: Range: $21.10 - $26.72

(placement on the salary range is based on years of experience)

District pays PERS contribution. Excellent benefit package.
