Job summary

enCircle is seeking an Educational Aide to support students in a private day school setting in Virginia. The role involves classroom and community-based instruction, with emphasis on behavioral and academic support for students with diverse needs.

The position runs Monday through Friday, 8:15 AM to 3:00 PM for 10 months, and requires a valid Virginia driver’s license with a clean driving record. Competitive pay starts at $15.60 per hour, with potential increases based on experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• At least 1 year working with children in care or educational settings preferred.
• Basic computer skills and MS Office experience.
• Valid Virginia Driver's License and proof of insurance if assigned driver.
• Satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to understand and build rapport with students with special needs.
• 10-month position.
• Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:15AM-3:00PM.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers and other support staff in all educational settings.
• Implements behavior strategies as described and collects behavior data as requested.
• Provides academic assistance to students as directed by teacher.
• Works with teachers, other support staff, and administration to maintain a safe and supportive school environment.
• Monitors behavior of students and initiates positive reinforcement of desired behaviors.
• Communicates with teacher, other support staff, and administrators to coordinate activities, exchange information, and resolve challenges.
• Attends staff meetings, parent meetings, IEP meetings as requested.
• With provided training, obtain Safety Care certification and implement Safety Care strategies to respond to and de-escalate negative behaviors.
• Attends work regularly and arrives in a timely fashion.
• Communicates professionally and conveys dignity and respect to students, parents, co-workers, and other professionals.

Minimum Requirements

• DRIVING SPECIFIC(The following list may or may not be all inclusive at time of posting):
• Must not have any of the following violations within the last 5 years:
• Reckless driving, including speeding 20mph or more over the posted speed limit.
• Driving under the influence/impaired/intoxicated or refusing a blood/breath test.
• Manslaughter or negligent homicide.
• Driving after being declared a habitual offender.
• Driving on a suspended or revoked license
• Driving a commercial motor vehicle while disqualified, under the influence, with a blood alcohol level of .04 or higher, refusing a blood/breath test, or violating an out-of-service order.
• Injuring a person while racing - felony.
• Failure to stop at the scene of a crash where there is injury, death, or property damage of $1000 or more.
• Emergency vehicle violation - death.
• Vehicular assault or willful stopping, impeding, or damaging a vehicle.
• Blocking access to the service facility.
• Attempting to elude police.
• Operating an unsafe vehicle.
• Vulnerable Road User – Death.
• Must not have any of the following violations within the last 3 years:
• Passing a stopped school bus.
• Careless driving.
• Three or more minor moving violations within the last three years.
