Rock Point School, Incorporated in Fruitland, New Mexico, seeks a dedicated educator to create a safe, positive learning environment and support the holistic development of students and staff, in line with the Bureau of Indian Education's mission.
The position requires at least 48 semester hours of college study, or a Bachelor’s in Education or equivalent, plus an assessment demonstrating knowledge of reading, writing and mathematics, and experience in the same or similar line of work.
Incumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment to ensure the holistic development of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical and academic experience. Incumbent will support the Bureau of Indian Education’s mission, which is to provide high quality education opportunities from early childhood through life while considering a tribe’s need for cultural and economic well‑being.
Incumbent must possess emotional and mental stability.
The work is sedentary and involves bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities. Occasional lifting of moderately heavy items such as student desks and audio‑visual machinery is also required. Good distant vision in one eye and ability to read printed material the size of typewritten characters without strain is required; glasses permitted. The ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, is required. In most instances, an amputation of arm, hand or leg will not disqualify an applicant for appointment, although it may be necessary that this condition be compensated with satisfactory prosthesis. The position requires normal physical activity with the work, field travel, and attendance at meetings/conferences away from the duty station.
