Job summary

Michigan School for the Deaf is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year. The role focuses on sourcing, attracting, and recruiting qualified candidates to staff MSD across state programs and housing services.

You will lead social media recruiting, collaborate with the HR Liaison, and build partnerships with colleges and external partners while traveling to recruit qualified applicants. ASL videos and accessibility content are part of the duties.

Qualifications

• Experience in staffing, education, or school-based operations preferred.
• Knowledge of employment practices and relevant regulations.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to manage multiple openings and priorities.
• ASL skills required.
• Willingness to travel via multiple modalities (air, rail, car).
• Experience with editing and video software.

Responsibilities

• Partner with HR Liaison to identify staffing needs and define job requirements.
• Develop recruitment strategies tailored to roles and departments.
• Source candidates through job boards, networks, social media, referrals, career fairs, and other channels.
• Screen resumes, conduct initial assessments, and forward to HR Liaison.
• Ensure a positive candidate experience.
• Manage applicant tracking and maintain candidate records.
• Track hiring metrics to improve processes and timelines.
• Support MSD branding to attract high-quality candidates.
• Build relationships with colleges and external partners for talent pipelines.
• Serve as a social media content developer for Flint and Michigan communities.
• Produce, caption, and add accessibility information in ASL videos.
• Provide tours of MSD campus, dormitories, and facilities.
• Organize events for recruiting and employee engagement.
• Assist relocation of new staff by connecting with resources.
