Job summary

Charlotte County Public Schools, Punta Gorda Middle 0121, is seeking a Paraprofessional to support instructional staff in delivering developmentally appropriate learning experiences to students. The role involves classroom supervision, activity participation, and assisting with IEP/504/LEP plans.

Starting immediately, the position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a ParaPro exam or 60 college hours, and successful experience working with children.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Passing score on ParaPro exam, or at least 60 semester hours of college credit.
• Successful experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Assists in planning, implementing, preparing, and facilitating developmentally appropriate student engagement in learning.
• Participates actively in student activities in the classroom, swimming pool, and play areas.
• Monitors students visually and audibly.
• Assists with implementing IEP, 504, LEP, BIP, and other learning plans as developed.
• Practices positive child-behavior techniques and behavioral interventions in the classroom.
• Participates in professional growth activities appropriate to the position.
• Assists with meeting basic needs of students as required, such as diapering and health-related tasks.
• Substitutes for the classroom teacher when called upon by the building principal.
• Performs other duties related to the job goal of the position.
