Job summary

The Children’s Village is seeking an Education Specialist (Pre-K through Middle School) to provide tailored educational planning for youth in the Family Foster Care Department in Bronx, NY.

You will develop and implement education plans, coordinate tutoring and enrichment services, and collaborate with social workers, caseworkers, coaches, and therapists to support school placement and transportation needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field.
• Two years’ experience in Education or Child Welfare.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Position Overview:

Assure each student pre k through middle school in the Family Foster Crae department have an educational plan which meets their individual needs, including school or other educational placement, transportation to school and supplemental educational services. In conjunction with the Caseworker, Social Worker, Coach and Behavioral Specialist/Therapist formulate and implement an education plan for each of those students. Coordinate educational services including tutoring and other enrichment services for youth. Assist with advocacy of school placement, transportation and supplemental educational services are in place for all youth within the Family Foster Care Department.

Position Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field. Two years’ experience in Education or Child Welfare. Basic computer skill and good written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to work evening and weekend time.
